The press release of Shenmue I & II describes it as ‘the saga that defined modern gaming’. On the face of it that sounds like typically over-the-top marketing rhetoric, but after replaying the games, and considering their historical context, it might be true. That’s helped by the fact that both games have aged remarkably well and are just as impressive – and infuriating – to play today as when they were first released almost two decades ago.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Shenmue 1 & 2 and more are set to leave both Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC. This gives you just a couple of weeks to grab any achievements you might need from these titles.
Amazon has discounted the physical version of Shenmue I & II to as low as $18.71 on PS4 and Xbox One.
DSOGaming writes: "Modder ‘Streamer2k’ has released a brand new texture pack for the Shenmue 1 & 2 collection. This texture pack features 2K and 4K high quality textures that overhaul the games’ nature. This basically means that you can find more detailed textures for trees, grass, bushes, plants, flowers and more."
I really wish the Shenmue remake on Xbox 360 wasn't canceled. It looked really good. This will have to do.
I think it's great people do stuff like this, but to be fair, it never fits the original art style, plus you can see some of the new textures mess up with the Japanese characters in the textures. Clearly someone western have made these without the knowledge of the language.
