I agree - at least with 4 of those 5. Would have Unity above Syndicate though. For all the issues that hit it originally, it's a damn good game.

I do wish the first Assassin's Creed was given more credit. For a game that was pushed out a year early and ported to a second console without warning, it set a solid platform for the series.

Too much credit is given to Assassin's Creed 2, and I personally see it as the big screw up the series. It gave us pointless fluff, superfluous mechanics, on rails missions structure, Ezio (Italian James Bond), and an incredibly slanted and underwhelming view of history. It laid the foundation of flaws for the series because instead of getting a tight game steeped in history, we got a shallow game filled with fluffy busy work. The kicker? Assassin's Creed 2 had a full development cycle unlike the first game--so there's no excuse for what it delivered. It all went downhill from there. I know people enjoyed it and good for them, but I certainly feel what we missed out on by Ubisoft's "pad the game and fluff the players" mindset, would have been a stronger experience overall.
