There's a lot more going on beneath the surface, both literally and metaphorically.
Are they gonna copy off another youtuber review again for this game? 🤣
Still working through last falls games lol, gonna pick this up on discount a few months after release.
Just trying to think of the many reviews, most likely coming from IGN, who call a game out and give a ridiculous low score for "being samey" or "more or less the same" It's like Rise of the Tomb Raider V2
They gave Rise a 9/10 surprisingly.
Yeah its OK when its TR.. But for uncharted being even slightly similar was a bas thing! Classic IGN
While I had some problems with Rise Of The Tomb Raider, it was a step in the right direction as regards puzzles and platforming. I had quite a lot of fun with it despite it's awful story and writing (although, Craft Manor marked a decent improvement there). I'll probably get this game but not immediately. I know I'll enjoy it but like most I'm not particularly excited or hyped for it. Wasn't a big fan of how they treated PS owners either (most Tomb Raider fans).
The gameplay had input lag on ps4 too, making it feel sluggish compared to the first TR. It was pretty dissapointing overall i don't get why people think it was so Amazing
That's sad. Can't wait for spiderman and red dead 2
I'm not sure why that is sad. Rise of the Tomb Raider has been one of the best games this generation for me. And really what needs to change or become better? The story was solid, the mechanics are great, the open area approach was awesome, puzzles were good, hunting and gathering was great, graphically awesome, sound awesome, the levelling up was great, etc. I'm not sure what you are expecting them to innovate here? Not every game genre needs 10 major innovations in order to become better. I haven't seen any Red Dead videos yet, but I did see spider-man, and I didn't see a single innovation that was not from another video game yet. That doesn't make it a bad game at all. Gamers have to quit thinking every new game will bring some epic innovation. Most games this generation have been incremental improvements on previous games by tightening mechanics, merging genres, and improving graphics. Not totally new and innovative things never been done before.
Rise had an absolutely abysmal story, game play had high input lag(on ps4 at least) after the game had already been out a year on the xbox. I didn't find the puzzles that great in rise i expected more after TR 2013 and was left disappointed. I'm still hopeful that shadow can at least have better puzzles, story, and game play. Spider-Man definitely isn't the same thing as previous spidermans if you look up people's impressions after playing
sorry, more of the same is NEVER ok. it‘s the reason for this lacklustre state the industry is in.
Isn't uncharted great? Is more of the same! If they have a good story they will be more than ok.
Not really no Uncharted 4 changed the gameplay alot from the older titles
Uncharted 4 was really different overall than the previous games. Yea you still shot people but they made it more cinematic ala The Last of Us and there were semi-open world areas.
My bad, uncharted did change to be more like Tomb Raider but why Tomb Raider will change then?
It's more like Tomb Raider changed to be more like Uncharted not the other way around.
Not a single uncharted has ever felt the complete same as another, For better or worse
If something is great more of the same is certainly okay.
Ekh gotta get the clicks with that title...It's a sequel, of course it's the same! and I'm glad that the previews are positive. With this game it looks like the classic games with the puzzles, setting, underwater ares which I'm excited since the last Tomb Raider that I really liked was Underworld.
That doesn't really matter as long as they give us new areas to explore, new enemies to fight, new puzzles to solve, and so on. The fundamental mechanics of these games are so good that they don't really need to add or change too many things, some minor tweaks should be enough. One could argue that the third installment of Dark Souls and Metroid Prime was just more of the same aswell, but that didn't prevent those games from being amazing.
Damn you could say that about Uncharted, but the games are brilliant so it doesn’t matter
I think the difference is that Uncharted actually has an interesting story to tell. Tomb Raider unfortunately never really had a good story. So the gameplay similarities aren’t as big of a deal with Uncharted.
I enjoyed both tomb raider recent stories just as much, but uncharted has the edge but not by the margin it once was.
Exactly my fear.
It's OK if you want an OK game. I'd rather have excellent, so I'll be passing on this one. I don't want any more of this franchise. Rise bored the life out of me, took me over a week to pick back up.
I’m sure it’ll be worth a playthrough, just not not for full price on day one.
I can respect that. Even still, after waiting a year for the PS4 version (plus a bit of time for a price drop), I was still rather disappointed. Then again, I played it directly after God of War.
Think I may pass this time until it drops to 20
I enjoyed the 2013 game a lot, the story and characters were far better. Mechanically Rise was sound, but the setting was worse and the story was dreadful with a constant angry/whiney Lara on her selfish quest. I hope this entry improves on that aspect.
Given how many great, competitive releases are coming out this fall and next year with TLOU...no, its not okay that Tomb Raider is just more of them same.
