Why You Should be Playing the Original Xbox in 2018

The Original Xbox is an amazing piece of hardware and one of my favourite game consoles of all time. It was a massive powerhouse, and was home to many fan-favourite games and franchises. In recent years, people have left it behind as they’ve moved on to the Xbox 360 and then the Xbox One.

Actually just bought a modded xbox a couple months ago, mainly for the sega games, totally worth it

ZachMurphyQT2512d ago

I've seen a lot of people mod their Xbox but i love mine being exactly as it would've been on launch.
Which games have you been playing?

isarai2512d ago

Well its a hard mod, so at the flip of a switch (theres a physical switch on the exterior) i can revert it back to a standard X Box. But so far im addicted to Outrun coast to Coast, but i also play Breakdown, Otogi 1&2, JSRF, Crazy Taxi 3, Time Splitters series and a few others

ZachMurphyQT2512d ago

Timesplitters is so so excellent - all 3 games in the series are great! Have you been following the development of Timesplitters Rewind?

Ryshard2512d ago

Awesome article. Let’s not forget Splinter Cell :)

ZachMurphyQT2512d ago

Splinter Cell is an excellent series but I don't have the patience for stealth XD I die often. Second Sight was a great stealth game too - though not on the xbox

PhantomS422512d ago

Splinter Cell got me hooked on Tom Clancy novels and stealth games. Metal Gear Solid got me addicted to stealth games. Any time I have a chance to go stealth in a game I pull out my inner Fisher or Snake.

ZachMurphyQT2512d ago

I do have a lot of appreciation got stealth games, I just suck haha
Don't laugh, but there's some excellent stealth segments in the Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets game

Mogz792512d ago

Great console and there are so many bargains for it! I love the custom soundtrack games like Burnout 3

ZachMurphyQT2512d ago

Any console with burnout 3 has a place in my heart

AuraAbjure2512d ago

Heck yeah! The matrix games were sweet :)

ZachMurphyQT2512d ago

Were you more into enter the matrix or path of neo?
Advent rising was also basically a matrix game

UltraNova2512d ago

Both had their ups and lows. Still played the shit out of them.

ZachMurphyQT2512d ago

@UltraNova - I played so much Enter the Matrix when it came out. Revolutions really soured the franchise for me though.

So much for that games preservation team they set up

How can you go on about it games preservation but abandoned physical media

Terry_B41m ago

because its obsolete. Even for game preservation.

Terry_B41m ago

5 years and physical media exists only as special collector items. cds, dvds, blurays will be completely gone from the shelves. Sadly.

I'm wondering if Compulsion Games is on the chopping block. They've always been a small studio and the only things they've developed under Xbox were We Happy Few and South of Midnight. Neither of them were heavy hitters and 7 years of development between the games. Also, Ninja Theory with Hellblade II not being as big as they wanted either. I hope I'm wrong. I feel like we just went through this when they closed studios last year.

unless their are some really small support studios, you may be right

Project: Horned Owl Review

From the mid-1980s to the early part of the 2000s, light gun rail shooters were a staple in both arcade and home system gaming. Arguably, the genre started to really hit its stride in the mid-1990s. While games like Time Crisis, Virtual Cop, and House of the Dead, among others, dominated both the home system and arcade space, some one relegated to only home game systems. Today, we’ll be talking about a little-known cult game published by Sony called Project: Horned Owl. This game was developed by Alfa Systems, and all in all, this is a fun game.
