It will likely be the only IP they get, since Spider-Man is the only IP of Marvel's that Sony has the rights to.

Uh, no. Marvel asked Insomniac what superhero they wanted to create a game for, and they chose Spider-Man.
Sony still owns the rights. You can use that story, but Sony has had the rights for years. The shared universe is a movie deal only.

oh come on this argument was debunked dozens of times, sony only has the movie rights for spiderman not game rights. insomniac wanted to make a spiderman game because they love the character end of story.

Well they've owned the rights since the PS2 days, ever since they Don't made the first Spider-Man with Toby. They actually licensed the character back to Marvel for the newer movies, which helps them make Spider-Man big again and gets them paid.

They tried Ea they tried ms and both times their games didn't get much attention they came back to Sony and made the best selling games in their company's history
nah insomniac says they prefer being independed, still wont stop them for being contracted by sony a lot though.
I can see them maybe doing more games in the Spiderman universe. But Disney is too financially motivated to let other Marvel IPs release exclusively to any one platform. But I'd love to be proven wrong cause a Marvel Multi-game universe would be amazing if done properly.
they have said they want quality over quantity that's why they approached sony. I think we will see them give different IP's on game by game bases to different publishers and have a much bigger say in how their IP is being handled. Star wars under EA has showed them that doing 10 year deals isn't good of business
And yet Netflix have exclusive rights to most of their tv shows to make and 'air' them whilst amazon has the rights for airing cloak and dagger..... hmmmm seems to me the idea of putting their ip into a more restricted market in terms of numbers of consumers isn't actually an alien one....

I guess we'll see what happens. All I know is Insomniac knocked it out of the park with Spiderman. And that's all that matters right now.
not exactly, they are just choosing publishers with the best track record, so they won't choose MS for their games.
also marvel are doing 2 multiplatform games from SE, one is the already revealed Avengers and the other i'm pretty sure wasn't confirmed but heavily rumored as a GOTG game.
the thing that i wonder is how likely are the chances that this is a start of a MGU, as insomniac were vague when asked that instead of straight up debunking it, which makes me think that we may have like an after credits scene for future games.
Who gives shit about marvel universe in games. Just leave that to the film industry and let's have great devs create their own IPs.

Yes, why would they want any of these characters to ever actually appear and do things when they can just stick landmarks and references in there?
Well, maybe a Spider-verse. Keeping 2 seperate, but popular franchises going but on the same IP can only help the other. I wouldn't mind a Venom game.
Spider-Man has been associated with Sony for a long time now and even if it's just this one I'll be happy
I'm saying this as someone that owns a PS4 and not an Xbox One nor Switch ... but if there are more Marvel games of that caliber coming out in the future I would sure hope more people could enjoy it on their platform of choice! In the meanwhile I am loving my PS4 exclusives!!!
Don't expect Insomniac games to produce a Spider Man or any other character game similar to this on Xbox or Switch for a very, very, very....very long time. If ever.
Just buy a PS4.
@SierraGuy I don't expect Insomniac to develop a Spider Man game on any other platform and I already own a PS4 as stated above... I essentially agree 100 % with you but simply wish more people could enjoy it regardless of whether they own a PS4 :)

During a livestream at Insomniac. One of the devs actually had a slip of the tongue and referred to this game as the "first game". There was like 4-5 seconds of awkwardness after that and you could tell he wasn't supposed to say it lol

Sony is the biggest publisher in gaming and they are known for quality HD creative freedom so why is anyone surprised people want to work with them in gaming
I was just thinking that Since Sony still owns the spider man movie rights Marvel maybe trying to sweet talk them by giving them video game rights to more characters once their 5 movie deal is up after homecoming 2.
But that doesn't mean that solo character hero game can be made plus we still have the Xmen. A Wolverine game would be great since Wolverine Origin game was actually great but it upto Marvel to decide who making another marvel game.
