Square Enix announced its quarterly financial results, reporting weaker performance due to the lack of new release and underperformance of mobile games.
On the bright side Square Enix recently announced Final Fantasy XV surpassed 7.7 million in sales
and with Octopath surging past 1 million already with more to come.. definitely some positives to be taken away.
"underperformance of mobile games." Good, stick to consoles and PC
Yes. Console and PC gamers made Square Enix viable. The mobile audience is fickle. Give us some new IPs.
Best news of the day! Focus on real platforms for gaming please. Mobile is fun for time wasting, not for actual gaming.
Maybe if they didn't charge so much for the mobile ports I'd buy them. FFIX in the UK on Google play is £20.49.
Nice to hear their games underperforming on mobiles. Hopefully the trend continues with all the companies and the emphasis can come back back it belongs, on pc and consoles.
"Under-Performing Mobile" Music to my ears
If this news were a suit, it would be perfectly tailored to this dogs*** company.
How about a new Parasite Eve game? Or even a sequel to The Bouncer? You shits. I do wish Square wouldn't sit on the IPs they made in past gens which clearly have incredible potential and would do so very well in this day and age. Look how Capcom are taking risks with RE2 and DMC5, if only Squeenix had those types of balls. FF7 is a start, but goddamn that isn't releasing in its entirety for another 3 years.
So glad to hear that their mobile garbage failed.
I feel Square was really banking on mobile games over console games. I'm glad they're under-performing and hopefully that's a wake up call to them to get back on track. Man, I miss the days of Squaresoft, especially on the PS1. Back then they were like on the level of how Naughty Dog and Rockstar are these last 2 generations. It's a shame.
I find it great that mobile games are underperforming :)
A sequel to the Bouncer. That game is the worst game they ever made on consoles since before they made the first final fantasy. Look at the reviews online of that PS2 garbage title. The game took 30 minutes to finish.
I'd have bought octopath on ps4 square
