Honestly i don't get why so many people completely dismiss it simply because it doesn't have finish line style race mode. It's still fun as hell and really good, i mean if you liked takedown missions in burnout then this game is for you.

What i hate now is publishers are going to look at this and think "Oh well i guess people just don't want arcade racers anymore" and we're back in the rut of simulator or hybrid simulator racing games.

GOD DAMNIT!

KyRo2518d ago (Edited 2518d ago )

I miss arcade racers so much but I think they are slowly going the way of fighting games. The crowd doesn't seem there for them anymore and it's sad to see. I mean Forza, GT and Project Cars are all well and good but I find them incredibly boring (here come the down votes). Give me more DriveClubs, Split Seconds, Motorstorm hell I'd even take another Ridge Racer at this point. This generation has been absolutely rubbish for arcade racers.

darthv722518d ago

I think this gen has been rubbish because last gen there was an overwhelming stockpile of racing games. I have over 60 racing games from last gen alone that is spread across 360, PS3 and Wii. Last gen was to racers what this gen is to 3rd person action/adventure titles (or indie games)... just too many to keep up with.

shuvam092518d ago

Honestly, I don't think the game and its sales are entirely at fault here, bcoz the game was really good...
I read somewhere that it was hard for Codemasters to communicate properly with the Evo team...
Favours the fact that only higher ups were let go...

AuraAbjure2519d ago

They should have put out a commercial or 2! Or YouTube commercials. Or any kind of advertising for that matter. I'm a huge Codemasters fan and yet Onrush's release totally flew under my radar.

chris2352519d ago

i ignored the game because i don‘t care for human players in my games. i was very interested otherwise. but forced mtiplayer games are a fun-drainer for me. this game as a conventional offline experience would habe been awesome.

Omac_brother2519d ago

The game has a substantial single player component. 25 hours played in SP and still haven't completed everything.

isarai2518d ago

It doesn't have forced MP, like at all. has a SP campaign to looks like it's going to take me like 40hrs to get everything, about 30hrs just to run through normaly

Should've been free to play.

jukins2519d ago

hate to say it but once again this game is a victim of the former evolution developer style. constantly releasing unfinished half featured games. This is why Sony let them go.

sizeofyou2519d ago

Except it's not the developers releasing it...

lodossrage2518d ago

"constantly releasing unfinished half featured games"

Ok, just how many games have they done that with? Because NONE of the Motorstorm games had that problem. And secondly, a developer doesn't release a game. A publisher does so that's on Codemasters if anything.

Dragonscale2518d ago

@juk, the motorstorm games say different. Unfinished half featured games, you mean like sot, sod 2 and pubg etc.

jukins2518d ago

you must have not played at launch any of the motorstorms. they were highly broken. especially the first it had horrendous sound bugs and flat out froze. then we have driveclub do i need to explain? as i said there's a reason that they're going through layoffs again after getting picked up by codemasters.

but i see whats really wrong you guys think im saying these are bad games and a bad developlers when infact all i said is they release unfinished and half featured games. they eventually fix them but still. Sony has nurtured their best developers even when they have a slip up sony will stick by the best of them evolution just doesnt have it

jukins2518d ago

lol yes like sot sod2 and pubg but we're here talking about the former evolution studios. way to show you're fanboy colors by bringing up all xbox exclusives to defend against negative comments about a former sony exclusive developer sad

Come on Rushy, pitch Driveclub 2 for PS5.

Yi-Long994d ago

After how Sony treated Driveclub and that studio, I doubt they’d go back to Sony for seconds.

Driveclub being one of my absolute favorite games ever, btw.

EvertonFC994d ago

DC was my 1st platinum 😄 sony had there yearly forza competitor yet threw it away 😔

Knushwood Butt993d ago

Well I don't know the full story, but the launch got a lot of flack during a time when the gaming press had their knives out for Playstation. There was a lot riding on it.

Having said that, I bought all of the DLC, and made 'friends' with a bunch of people through that game, so I really don't understand why they closed the studio. There's definitely room for Driveclub in Sony's portfolio.

lnfiniteLoop993d ago

I'd be happy with Driveclub remastered for PS5

darthv72993d ago

Knush... check the vid for more info about what happened with DC and Evolution studios.

Id love DC to come back but Id love Motorstorm even better.

Terry_B994d ago

The GameSparks Shutdown affects quite a lot of games.

racer22993d ago

Come on, bring out a proper new Motorstorm Ps5 only.

Silly gameAr993d ago

Aww that really sucks. That game was a damn blast, and even more fun playing drunk with friends.

Best Game Nobody Played of 2018

VGChartz's Taneli Palola: "As is always the case, especially in a year such as this, some games will unfortunately get lost and overlooked by most people regardless of their overall quality. These days there are so many amazing games being released practically every single week that there just isn't enough time for all of them to get their time in the spotlight. It's an unfortunate reality of the video game industry, and the following four games sadly never quite reached the heights that their quality would warrant."

VC4 was great. Also Xenoblade 2: Torna the Golden Country.

2354d ago
MoshA2354d ago

Xenoblade 2 was a fan service fest and the game looks really bad in handheld mode. Something's really wrong with the colours. VC4 is mediocre.

Asuka2354d ago

I disagree. Tho you are correct that in handheld XC2 performs quite poor and the color accuracy is more of issue with the actual panel used for the screen I think. But it isn't a fan service fest imo. But to each their own. Please keep in mind that I am simply disagreeing with you, and not saying you are wrong.

Nintentional2354d ago

You’re comment is mediocre bro

Swiftfox2354d ago (Edited 2354d ago )

"VC4 is mediocre" - I can agree with this.
The overall story was mundane and the characters were nothing but overused anime tropes. It's frustrating because the series has a lot of potential, but it always sugar coats everything and you're left with nothing but a teen melodrama with some of the most insulting themes I've seen in a game.
The simplistic, straight-forward gameplay can be entertaining and satisfying, but players will soon realize just how shallow it is for a strategy game. The sad part is the much loved first game has the same exact issues. Young boys eat it up though, so -shrugs- I just wish someone would make this style of JRPG for mature adults.

Tapani2353d ago

I’m with you MoshA and Swiftfox. Games need better narratives over the fan fest stuff.

I intend on picking it up for the Switch when I get one later this year.

Servbot412354d ago

Too bad it released at such a bad time. I loved it though, one of my favorites last year.

ZeekQuattro2354d ago

Did you end up buying it if you don't mind me asking?

gangsta_red2354d ago

I didn't, I rented it from Gamefly.

gangsta_red2353d ago

I'm part of the solution.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi2354d ago

I bought it but lost interest for some reason. I love this series so I'm not sure why.

TheGamez1002354d ago (Edited 2354d ago )

Same here, loved vc1 and 3. Vc2 i beat but the game wasnt great. This game...idk why I havent beat it yet. Stopped around chapter 10 and havent went back in months. I guess its just that the games pretty much exactly like the first game and didnt really evolve in any way considering its been 10 years since vc1s release. The game is good and im glad they went back to its roots but...idk I guess the storys just predictable? Characters are good but I dont like any of the side characters and their designs, theyre all very generic. Just doesnt have the wowness in the game I guess.

rainslacker2353d ago

I got the game, but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. I've read mixed reviews, so I'm hoping it's not that bad. Been a long while since we've had a proper VC game on home consoles. I loved VC1, the portable one's were OK, and I even liked the story well enough in Revolution, and the game play wasn't terrible...although it was way too much narrative, and sometimes I just wanted to get to the next game play section.
