After Finally Finishing God of War, I'm Trapped Between Admiration and Frustration

did an update change the colour of some of the stock enemies. . When I went back to play the game the colour of the enemies was different. .

It took her 3 months to 'finish up' (meaning reach the ending apparently) GOW mainly because she didn't like the puzzles.
I'm sorry but that was a bit of a silly article. The puzzles are very well done. She's trying hard there.

The puzzles and traps are what they are. Their purpose is to keep you out of something or an area. And in watching some people play it would take them 10 minutes to figure out the first puzzle. Freezing the gear. It's a simple practice of critical thinking that is welcomed every now and then otherwise everything is just handed to you.

You wil want to know the ending it will literally drop your jaw. The secret ending will leave you hyped too. To Watch the secret ending, go home and sleep after completion

To me people were saying the ending is as satisfying as U4s ending but when I finished it it wasn't that impactful. However as you proceed to the second playthrough I was amazed by the deep combat. Best combat since bloodborne in the exclusive library for sure.

I love it and decides to 100% the game in my second play (Gimme me GoW). I just need a couple muspelheim trials and Nilfheim, but it is damn hard to get throught at this dificulty. I took a break from all that grind but Now it is time to finish what I started

Honestly it was a great game. Somewhat repetitive with the same enemies, just different variations of them. Not to the point where it ruined the game though. My biggest complaint with GOW is exactly what he wrote.... I was excited and geared up for this epic ending boss battle, only to be met with more story. Not as disappointing as kane and lynch 2 ending but still disappointing. Solid game overall.

A few days ago, I beat the Valkyrie Queen on Give Me God of War difficulty. It felt good to finally defeat her after many tries.

I can't wait to do NG+.

I got slaughtered every time I went into a Valkyrie chamber. I completed to game but have yet to unlock all the souped up armor, and locations are still locked in the realms hub. This normal for a first run?

Possibly, depends on how you played the game. If you just pushed through the story without doing side missions and exploring, then like any RPG-ish game, you miss out on a lot of stuff. That stuff also includes some of the good "normal" armor, along with runes to power them up.

Valkyries are tough, but completely doable unless you're still really low level. As for the armor and locations, while some realms are never unlocked, such as Asgard, you can also miss Niflheim and Muspelheim if you didn't explore enough or pick up the ciphers when you came across them. That's where you need to be to grind and get the best armor, along with the good stuff Valkyries give you.

my first playthrough felt like a 9 or 9.5 but when i try to play it again its just unbearable with all the unskippable cutscenes and forced walking.

There’s very, very few forced walking sections and the gameplay to cutscene ratio is heavily in favor of gameplay by a wide margin and it’s mostly front loaded with the first few hours being the heaviest cutscene wise

i didn't even like the story the first time though.

the forced walking is bad enough, i usually dislike when games employ it, but unskippable cutscenes in this day, pretty bad imo.

Already got the Platinum and have been through it 5 times now. My latest runic build has runic maxed and cooldown about 75%. I used Sindris set with a bunch of awesome enchantments i found. I got the heaviest attacks that you buy from the dwarves too. Absolutely love this game. Going for the max valkyrie armor now so i can switch between them. Then i'll work on mist armor. Already ready already for ng+. Need more god of war in my life.

Different opinions are cool. People like different things... but I don't agree. I have been gaming for 30+ years and this game is in my top 20 best games for sure. Blown away!

First ever post. Great game in my opinion, up there with the mario n zelda classics and definitely in my personal top 10. Almost everything in the game is top notch, but the puzzles are shit. Look at gow 3 with its heras garden, shift the perspective puzzle and the one where you chain hades arms up and smash coffin into his chest, and there were a few more i cant remember. The first 3 games all had top puzzles, but the ones in this are the only thing letting it down. If the next installment can nail the puzzles i think you have a contender for best game ever.

I already beat it on Give Me God of War on my first play through. Now I have no reason to play it again. I was REALLY annoyed that all I got for that was 2 shield skins. No trophy, no sweet rune or gear... nope, just 2 shield skins. Not even a special ending or anything.

So you would have played it again if you got a special ending? Or a trophy? Or some new gear or rune? What did you expect? You chose the hardest difficulty for what? Surley you choose the difficulty to suit the challenge you want, not to earn something to make you want to play it again, no? I got the platunim in normal difficulty and havent played it again but will do when ng+ is available and i can't remember it so clearly, so i can kind of experience the whole thing again, and thats what its all about isnt it?

Yes I did play it to match my skill level, but I was also sort of expecting a special reward for doing so that is a little more significant than a couple shield skins. I'd probably be more likely to bother with NG+ if I got some awesome new gear or something.

I don't know, I guess they don't have to give you shit for it, but at least a trophy showing you did it or some awesome end game gear would have been nice.

Also, it wasn't a game for me that I care to experience again for the story itself. So since I already beat it on it most challenging and didn't even get anything new or cool to try out in a NG+ then there really is no point in playing again.

I totally get what you’re saying. I kind of expected a series of trophies for completing the game on different difficulties, but that would inhibit too many players from obtaining the platinum—Like me. Same difference as in when MP trophies are thrown into a primarily SP game. But it would be nice if the reward was truly boast worthy.

Yea i agree, a beat the game on hardest difficulty trophy would have been nice and i would have jumped straight back in for a 2nd playthrough to earn the platinum. But really all the complaints, even mine, are just minor quibbles and dont detract at all from the quality of the game. It truly is a classic and a game ill always remember

I actually liked the puzzles in God of War 2018. Thought they were simple and all of them shared elements, none felt out of left field or oddly placed. Plus they give you an excuse to throw and recall the Leviathan axe over and over!

Lol yea just recalling the axe is so satisfying, id just throw it and leave it then recall it a minute later or so, the sound, the feel is incredible. But really mate the puzzles or lack of were my only gripe with the game the only 2 decent ones were the seasons one going up in the lift, and the one in tyrs chamber where you were being strangled and died quick if you didny get it right. But i wanted big environmental puzzles, a bit of down time, a moment to scratch your head. I know we got down time in the boat with nimirs tales and that was brilliant, but like i say i personally wanted puzzles that matched the storytelling, gameplay, combat, graphics and sound. For me it is the only weakpoint. I bought it digitally and a physical limited edition copy. Its am amazing game, a future classic but like i say the puzzles are its only weak point for me, and i hope for corey or whoever directs the next one to implement some bigger better ones

I wouldn't say the puzzles are weak but they are simple. But that meant I never felt disconnected for the game, never was I standing around thinking. The game had a constant momentum which I think made it extra engaging!

Girl's a hack, other than a lack of interesting boss fights, this game is a near flawless in every other aspect of it. Again my opinion, as is hers, but you sucking ass at a part of the game doesn't mean its mechanically bad.
