Since there are eight different main characters in Octopath Traveler but only four in your party at any given time, you have to make a lot of tough decisions. Most important of which is picking your main starting hero.
I started as the scholar personally.
I chose the knight just because I like him as the protector of the others. I noticed that the characters share abilities with each other and similar talents with their path actions so it is very easy to split up the party and accomplish much of the games world without having to swap all the time. I like that there are multiple healers and mage types plus each character can grow, learn skills. Also the added Jobs are awesome. Such a perfect game. I have seven of the character so far with about 18 hours in. My main character is level 21. I personally think every story so far has been really good. They all feel classic and simple but with a great amount of emotion behind them. I do gripe that I want an auto enemy HP scan technique. I use the scholar to look at all the vulnerabilities of all the enemies but I often forget to look at the damage and HP that flashes to fast. I wish that would stay (I like the color labels to warn of HP status tho) or if the game (via patch) added a Bestiary for both enemies and captured monsters plus maybe a journal log for NPC info too. But seriously this is one of the best games I've played. I think I love it more than God of War. This may be my GOTY.
Primrose. Same as the demo. Then I went counter clockwise to get a mage and a healer.
It’s cool to try and mix things up in this kind of games. I just started my first Etrian Odyssey III campaign with a Farmer on the front line lol
I just recruited Primrose and let me tell you, her story is amazing. Might even be the best one out of the 8 protagonists.
the one that appeals to you
