It's quite popular on mobile since there isn't a lot of competition for games of its type that aren't even less engaging and just 'stare at your phone' games. Not to say Immortal is good, but for mobile, it's better than most.
The game looks stunning. It really takes me back to a simpler time with jrpg's. I'd love to see a phantasy star-esq game done like this.
