Assassin’s Creed Odyssey doesn’t stray from Origins’ formula, and I’m okay with that | Entertainium

"Assassin’s Creed Origins was a refreshing take on Assassin’s Creed last year, and if the demo I’ve played at E3 is any indication, it looks like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will keep that streak going." - Eduardo Reboucas, Entertainium

Haven't played origins yet, waiting on a $20 or less price tag. But it'll be the first assassins creed game I've played since dipping my toes into 2 and not finding it fun at all.

edureboucas2113d ago

I definitely recommend playing Origins as soon as you're able to get it. It's really different from the other games!

Yeah someone told me since I liked witcher, origins would be right up my alley. Assassins creed always struck me as a series I should be into but just never grabbed me. Syndicate in particular is one of my favorite settings for fictional tales, but just couldn't bring myself to give it a go.

thatguyhayat2113d ago

Doesn't stray? Its reskined from origins. They haven't learnt their lesson at all.

edureboucas2113d ago

That's not exactly true. Odyssey and Origins were developed concurrently. Please read my article. =)

It has most things in common with Origins, but it does have quite a few improvements to the stealth and combat mechanics, as well as the inclusion of naval exploration and combat, and an RPG-like dialog system and branching storyline. That's more changes than you get in most series from game to game.

Let's be honest, how different is one Uncharted, Battlefield, Batman Arkham or Tomb Raider game from the others of the same series? The answer is, not much. It's normal for games in a series to be similar to each other. That's what makes them a series.

Not at all. For me Assassin's Creed Origins was an amazing experience. One of my favorite games of the generation to be honest.

Technically, we wanted more money.

bradfh152d ago

Call of Duty already does this; Ubisoft and other game companies will follow suit and explore similar approaches.

Congratulations, A technical error In displaying ads while playing.
EU consumer law needs to chew these assholes a new one.

TheColbertinator152d ago

At this point the entire EU commission must be bribed

Christopher152d ago

The big note here is the built in ad-displays during gameplay and not that they happened. Start screen, cool. Gameplay? That shouldn't ever happen.

Yi-Long152d ago (Edited 152d ago )

"Start screen, cool."

Uhm, no. Start screen very much NOT cool either. There really need to be new laws implemented banning these companies from shoving ads down out throats at every opportunity they see fit.

Crows90151d ago

For free to play which is a market of games needing monetization through different venues. In those games this stuff is fine by me. But when you pay ..20, 40 ,60, or $70 that's when it is not okay to any degree.

jznrpg151d ago

Start screen not cool either

walken7152d ago

They're testing the waters, vote with your wallets.

porkChop152d ago

That's not a technical error. An ad can't be displayed mid-game without you creating the code/tech to make that possible first.
