if it has a great campaign with meaty contents, I couldn't care less if they want to milk the online portion to their liking. I barely played GTAV online and I still feel it was money well spent with the SP contents alone. if RDR2 will be the same, I say, let them!

@badz149 - I'm not exactly condemning them for their online practices. I'm just saying they should be more transparent about it. They shouldn't act like they're doing something special by focusing on the single-player development over putting micro-transactions in. Which will happen, they just want the spotlight of the 'good guy' by acting like monetization isn't even on their minds (which it is.)

I just wish developers would be up-front about this stuff. I've always hated people or brands that skirt around the truth to look good in the public eye. Just because you're getting around the truth, doesn't mean what you're doing is right.

With that said, I'll buy RDR2. It is going to be an amazing single-player experience no doubt. I just refuse to buy any online micro-transaction BS. Support great games, don't support bad practices.

I don't agree with the blanket demonization of DLC and micro-transactions. I have an issue with micro-transactions that affect competitive play, but outside of that I couldn't care less. It's simply content with a certain price attached to it.

Think about it, we have games released each year with a wide range of game lengths all charging the same $60 and nobody bats an eye. Everything from The Order 1886 with around 7 hours of playtime to games like The Witcher 3, AC Origins (and, yes, probably Red Dead Redemption 2 too) that offer dozens if not hundreds of hours of playtime. And yet the developers of each of those games decided to set the same $60 price tag.

Clearly the free market principle at work here is that creators make the content and set the prices and consumers can freely choose to buy it or not. So how is DLC any different?

If a developer makes a 50 hour game and charges $60 for it and wants to release an additional 7 hours of related content and charge $10 for it there's absolutely no issue. Gamers choose whether to buy the game and they have the same freedom to choose whether to buy the additional content. There's nothing that says that gamers are somehow entitled to the additional content for free.

And the Collector's edition I believe has no Game .. lol!! The fact that they canceled GTAV story dlc for more online contents and selling of shark cards speaks a lot. But nevertheless I love their games. They are one of my fav devs out there.. Preodered Rdr2 ultimate ed.

Rockstar has this luxury lol! It doesn’t have to be a primary concern b-c everything they make takes in money hand over fist. Their shareholders are never pushing for sketchy shit b/c it can only hurt a Rockstar game and it’s image.
