Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy gives three classic games a fresh coat of paint, but there's no mistaking that they're old at heart.

It’s a good game but it doesn’t hold a candle to other platformers on the console unfortunately, such as Mario Odyssey and Tropical Freeze.

Nitrowolf21298d ago (Edited 1298d ago )

It’s a remake of a game from nearly 20 years ago. It’s dumb to compare it to something that released within the last year, made from this time on newer hardware.

Sure if it was a brand new game I could understand.

Man wtf up with these “professional reviewers” if they can’t even finish any of the games in the collection

DrStronk1298d ago

@NitroWolf2 I don’t mean visually or anything like that, i’m talking gameplay. I could compare it to Super Mario 64 or Donkey Kong 64 if you’d prefer that, but it still pales in comparison. This is just my opinion of course, feel free to take it with a grain of salt.

@Deep-throat That’s funny because the original Crash Bandicoot for ps1 is the second game i ever played, with the first being Rayman. Needless to say i’m a big fan and I have some very cherished memories of it, but I simply think Mario and Donkey kong are better games. You are right about one thing though, Crash Bandicoot is definitely better then Kirby Star Allies.

@Cernunnos That’s interesting. I found Crash Bandicoot 2 to be the worst game in the trilogy.

starsi3601298d ago

No, it's dumb to review a game differently and give it an easier time just because it's 20 years old.

I'm not buying it 20 years ago, I'm potentially buying it now so I want It reviewed in comparison to other options in the same genre that are also available now.

Crash 2 is a better platformer than any Mario game.

TheRealTedCruz1298d ago

They say there's no such thing as a wrong opinion. There are certainly bad ones to coincide with bad taste.

Cernunnos1298d ago (Edited 1298d ago )

@SlapHappyJesus Please. CB2 is much more refined, and a much more balanced platformer than anything else out there. It is also the absolute best platform game for speed-running. CB2 is the pinnacle of platform games.

And yes, I like Mario, and yes I own a Switch. Just before someone calls me anti Nintendo, or whatever.

TheRealTedCruz1298d ago

Can't account for personal taste. Like I said, your opinion isn't wrong. Just questionable.
But to say that crash was a better platformer than, say, Mario 64 ... that's questionable.
To say it's a better platformer than the Galaxy Series ... take personal preference out of the equation, and it's a bold faced lie.

FlyingFoxy1298d ago

Everybody has their own taste in games, this is why i don't always trust review scores. Same with movies. But everyone's like sheep so what is there to say.

IRetrouk1298d ago

Sorry but these games are timeless, no way even one of the crashes deserve a 6 let alone all 3 remastered, shitting on my childhood here😂

TheRealTedCruz1298d ago

Maybe after 20 years, throwing a new coat of paint doesn't hide archaic design and controls?

IRetrouk1298d ago

Controls and design are fine though lol, there was nothing wrong with the originals.

Razmiran1298d ago

There was a lot wrong with the first one, like that bridge level

IRetrouk1298d ago

The bridge levels are fine though, hard but not impossible, alot of platformers have several different difficulty spikes, its part of what makes them so rewarding

TheRealTedCruz1298d ago

@IR

We get it. Your opinion is that there's nothing wrong with the games, therefore there's nothing wrong with the games.

Razmiran1298d ago

No they were not, you can insist all you want because of "Muh childhood", but they were pure BS

assassin2k1298d ago

I wouldn't say archaic. The inertia in the Crash games always felt amazing. You can tell the controls are tight because of how small some of the platforms you have to navigate are. I would say that the level design is simplistic compared to what you get now but part of the charm is fantastic level design which although linear, is a joy to navigate.

IRetrouk1298d ago (Edited 1298d ago )

I didnt say there was nothing wrong with them at all, i refute the stuff about controlls and design. they are simple platformers though and what they do they do well, and deffo better than a 6, especially all 3, every game has stuff i dont like, dont mean i cant see past it to see the games overall merits. The childhood thing was a joke, i replayed all 3 when they released, the games are still great fun.

I haven’t played this yet but I really wonder why it suddenly got low so many reviews like this.

KaaF1298d ago

He didn't even finish one of the games, damn Gamespot integrity has fallen since the last time I've heard of them.

Sonyslave31298d ago

Agree just a year ago everyone was giving it 9 and saying it was example how to do remakes. I wonder does it no longer being ps4 exclusive all the sudden it a bad game, the same goes for Nier automated gods edition.

Kaze241298d ago

That's exactly true, since GS tends to give anything on xbox low scores and even games that been re-mastered like x10 times on other platforms a 9 or 10.. ( cough ) SotC..

Inzo1298d ago

Crash is a great trilogy, dont blame the age of the game if you cant finish its more difficult levels.

Kaze241298d ago

This reminds me of the low scores SoT got from GS, this so called reviewers don't exactly play the games much and they base the entire game and the dlc on 40% play thru the game..
