Is Beyond Good and Evil 2 more ambitious than Star Citizen?

Red Bull Games Australia takes an in-depth look at Beyond Good and Evil 2 from a behind closed doors session at this year's E3 and throws in some comparison to another major space title full of similar ambition in Star Citizen and writes:

"There’s an impressive video that was released a while ago showcasing the true geometry and real-time finesse required to understand, and master, Star Citizen, of a planetside entry, ship-landing and then third-person exit into a fully populated interior. And there’s no question this was an impressive display of raw design and technology. But the content we saw behind closed doors at this year’s E3 for Beyond Good and Evil 2 easily trumped that. Largely because Beyond Good and Evil 2 isn’t taking its space-faring overly seriously. Theirs is an action-RPG sci-fi future where rules can be written on-the-fly to accommodate artistic vision and fun gameplay..."

The story is too old to be commented.

There's a distinct difference. One is created by a professional studio with a long track record of successful games, and who know the limitations of current technology. The other is created by a newbie studio led by a 90s relic who is trying to sell the dream "everything" game, without any concept of what's possible and what's not. You can guess which one will actually get finished and released.

Yup, pretty much. They keep expanding the scope of Star Citizen, and that's on top of extremely slow progress. It'll never get finished.

It honestly reminds me of George Broussard and Duke Nukem Forever, where he kept expanding the scope and trying to add every new feature he'd see in games. It never would have released had Gearbox not stepped in to wrap it up.

Ohhh gawd how did you make the comparison?

Don't know about that, but it's not a scam, and will most likely get finished. So it has a leg up there.

Well I mean, there's a line between Ambition (the former) and being a Scam (the latter).

*Clears throat* I can also do "everything." Proof you say? Ha! I'll give you proof in small increments over the course of your lifespan. Now, for the small price of a few hundred thousand dollars, you can gain access to everything of my everything, in the everything space! And don't you dare say I'm not ambitious, for I am - ambitious for your money.
