I mean I wouldn't praise the motion controls. But having the whole experience on the go is the defacto standard here. Enjoy playing on your TV. I will play wherever I want. A good chunk of the sacrifices made don't show up on the smaller screen, so I am fine with the lower resolution and some muddier textures. I can play the full game anywhere I want. Yes please.

But I understand the traditional mentality. You're used to being hooked up to your TV with a cable. Freeing yourself has some sacrifices. But it's a great experience in the end.

Your logic is flawed, but you analogy is amusing.

The version is what it is. It is only gimped if you are unfairly comparing it to more powerful non portable systems. If you are a multiconsole owner, then get the game on your preferred system and don't look back, but If I have only a Switch, I don't need to know or care what other consoles have. Same back in the day with SNES and Genesis games, it simply doesn't matter since I can't play those versions. My PC is crap for gaming, but I'm not checking to see how good it could be IF I could play at max performance. Performance on other systems is irrelevant to many...or can be overlooked for the portability/off TV play aspects. I'm more concerned with how good it is on a system I have access to. If a game is fun and runs ok, I'm sold. By all accounts, this is true for this game. That is the mentality that will make a "gimped" version thrive.

Of course it isn't going to perform like an Xbox or PS4, but that also means that people shouldn't pretend that it's the "best" version.

It absolutely has certain advantages like portability, but I don't know if that makes it the definitive "best" version.

It’s portable Wolfenstein 2 if you want it to be. Exactly, a missed point. I could throw analogies on here all day but at the end it doesn’t matter. The GBA reference was brought up to prove the point that it doesn’t matter what the game looks like people will still buy it if it’s fun and convenient for them. The same game made on the GBA that looked way worse than it did on its home console competition didn’t bother anyone. And here we are looking at a game with a few textures removed along with other sacrifices and the “powerheads “ are all “ The graphics suck, who would play this game?” Be happy and play those games on your suit up PC or higher and consul of choice. And while I’m waiting be happy and play those games on your souped up PC or higher end console of choice. And while I’m At work on break playing through a “less graphical game”, others who don’t see the point, will have to wait to go back home to play.

A version of a multiplat that, not long ago, many here, who hate Nintendo, were INSISTING that the Switch NEEDED TO HAVE, alongside other big-name multiplats, otherwise the system wouldn't sell at all.

And now that it's here, and it's got even the SLIGHTEST amount of support behind it, suddenly, here those same naysayers are, playing two-face by dissing it left and right to try and discourage people.

The naysayers need to take all that hypocrisy and shove off; it's only the "worst version" if someone's a graphics and fps fanatic that can't stand a multiplat doing well on a Nintendo system.

Not even slightly.
It trades a little bit of graphics for better aiming through gyro, and the only other issue is its framerate being at 30, which quite honestly isn't a deal-breaker for most since we've all gamed through the PS3 era, if not earlier, and are totally okay with/adaptable to 30fps.

For being on a system that is a third of the size of its competition that naturally cannot have equivalent tech in its housing, this game runs WONDERFULLY.
And it deserves sales.

But again, you'll have the haters and the naysayers, who were formerly INSISTING QUITE HEAVILY that Nintendo NEEDS to have these kinds of multiplats, that this game and others like it are "The worst version" and "Don't matter".
Like the bunch of salty haters they are.

Played it on PS4 but got it again for Switch for the portable aspect. yes not as good looking and 30FPS but it looks remarkably good regardless. It plays really well and the gyro aiming is superb. It's almost K+M good. We have come a long way since Mortal Kombat on Game Gear.

Digital foundry put this game on blast... Doesnt even run at 30 fps even when it dips down to 440p. Holy F you cant even tell whats what at 440p its like i forgot i was playing a ps2 game... This has got to be the WORST AAA 3rd party game on the switch. Why would anyone even play this version other than having the portable option which in fact runs worse than in docked mode. Its best selling point is its biggest downfall. Facepalm

I have it on the Switch. It came out yesterday. So I have been using the motion controls and it plays a lot better lime that. And no it isn't troll. BOTW, XC2, Mario Odyssey, Mario Rabbids and more. Clicking your heels and being a rabid Sony fan won't change it. Grow up and deal with it.

I thought we were beyond wondering or being surprised at whether a game will run on one piece of hardware vs. another. It's just a matter of how does it look and at what framerate does it run at consistently in comparison.

I don't know man, I play games not pixels or framerates... If the game is good and has My interest then I buy bit and play it. So far the switch is offering something nice that is basically the portability mode and it's understandable at the cost of a downgraded version... The comments on this show the absolute hypocrisy of the anti-Nintendo section of the community here on N4G, if not elsewhere.

Not long before the Switch released, all of these types of people were INSISTING that the Switch NEEDED these kinds of AAA multiplat games in order to succeed.
And the sad part is, these people KNEW that the smaller size would mean it wouldn't be as powerful, yet they still expected it to play every single game at every single graphical bar the other two set, or it would be deemed a failure.

Yet now that the system is getting AT LEAST SOME of these games, and they're actually running a lot BETTER than expected of a smaller console, suddenly, SURPRISE SURPRISE, here's THAT SAME GROUP-TYPE out here in force, telling everyone that it's the worst version and has no saving graces worth getting it for.

They're all just letting their true colors show; they don't want a well-known current-gen AAA multiplat to gain any kind of recognition on the Switch, unless it's just as much of a 60-fps graphical light-show as its physically larger cousins.
Otherwise it's "the worst version".
Which is unrealistic expectations at its finest.

So unrealistic tech expectations of a physically-smaller console + graphics/fps elitism.

Blend the two and you've got some of the people here in a nutshell; "Oh Switch version of this game is the worst version and its portable and gyro-aiming advantages aren't true, and you should just buy MY version, and play games on MY system, because look how pretty and fast it is and my console is SOOOOOO much better than yours!"

Just accept that some people don't mind trading a bit of looks for better function.
It doesn't make your versions horrible and it doesn't force you to stop playing them, nor does it stop you from playing better with sticks than with gyro aiming because that's what you're used to.

Just stop downplaying this version. If you don't like it, shut up and go play the version you like.
It's simple.

Stop acting AFRAID of the idea of a AAA multiplat succeeding on the Switch.

Stop desperately running damage control for Nintendo's poor products and mediocre games, it gets really embarrassing after a while. Lay off the Nintendo koolaid, it's rotting your brain. It's very clear to most gamers that Nintendo left the console market years ago after the failure of the terrible Wii U (which you also staunchly defended), they are no longer a part of the console community. Once you are able to admit that, you can realize that the Switch is not ever going to compete with the real consoles on the market. It simply doesn't have the power, and never will.
