Can loot boxes become more consumer-friendly?

In a perfect world, game publishers wouldn’t have to rely on loot boxes to ensure their games were profitable. However, just because loot boxes can be profitable doesn’t mean they also have to be exploitive. There are plenty of ways to implement loot boxes in a fair, consumer-friendly manner, and it’s up to game publishers to realize and acknowledge that the pursuit of profit doesn’t need to come at the cost of gamer goodwill.

Umm the article acts as if they are already befiicial to gaming? Loot boxes are awful money grubbing evil leprechauns, teasing gamers gold but only handing out fools gold garbage to be thrown out next iteration and rebought over again.
