Sony’s E3 2018 press conference - A much greater disappointment than I was prepared for

"Sadly enough, I have to say that Sony's E3 2018 press conference was a much greater disappointment than I was prepared for...And this is the reason why." - Justin Easler, TGG.

UCForce2227d ago

“Sigh” I will say this again. MS will win another E3 next year and Sony will lose E3 another year. You can’t win forever and you gotta let your competitors win this time and let them have their glory.

IamTylerDurden12227d ago (Edited 2227d ago )

If "winning" just comes down to paying devs to show their multiplatform games on your stage then all Sony would have to do is open their wallet like Microsoft.

Microsoft didn't win anything, in fact, if you look at 1st party games Ubisoft actually had a much better showing. I consider E3 to be about showing what a company has in the foreseeable future, that's what counts, and Sony and Ubisoft were considerably better in that department. It's nice seeing Fallout and KH3 on the Microsoft stage, but these games were also shown at the Bethesda and SE conference.

Sony had the best gameplay at E3. TLoU, Tshushima, and Spiderman were the best games at all of E3. TLoU was astounding, there really wasn't anything close. To simply dismiss that due to a long intermission or a lack of multiplatform games shown is absolutely wrong.

UCForce2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

Look, you have to accept that you can’t win all the time. MS will win next year and Sony will lose next year. I could be wrong, but this is something that we have to accept and move on. Like I said, we lost and they won. We have to let them win anyway.

@TeamLit You are right about MS win this year. So I do believe MS will win next year. PlayStation have lost this year and i don’t know how they are going to win next year.

HaveSumNuts2226d ago

There's a huge difference between having a disappointing E3 conference for 1 year and having a disappointing console for the whole generation.

TGG_overlord2226d ago

Sony's games was on point, but like I told UCForce, the presentation could have been much better.

morganfell2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

"Sony's games was on point, but like I told UCForce, the presentation could have been much better."

And an intelligent gamer will see past the marketing subterfuge and focus on what matters. Games. The games that make that particular presenter uniquely relevant. If you cannot focus past marketing fluff then you aren't really in a position to evaluate anything on the stage properly.

I have never purchased a title and while gaming it thought, "This would play so much better if they had a better show at E3 last year when I saw this game." If you need 40 multiplatform trailers shown in order to make an individual game look, feel, and play better then the issues are with your perception.

UCForce2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

@Vasto True, but that doesn’t mean your attitude hasn’t changed. You are still blinded by perfection. So tell me this, what If MS stabbed you in back just like other companies did ? Would you ignore them or boycott them ? I don’t blind by perfection and I know Sony isn’t perfect because I know that they will make mistakes and they did. Like I said before, when you joined N4G and you blinded by the perfection and you only see the world of black and white. There is nothing wrong to praise your favorite company, but never overconfident yourself. Otherwise, sooner or later it will backstabbed you. And you are going to regret it.

MuddyWaters2226d ago

You guys remind me of the panel Sony had during their 15 minute intermission with a bit of condescending flair.

alb18992226d ago

Your fanboyism doesn't let you see with clarity. Ms did won the E3. And yes, Sony's conference was really bad.
What save a little bit Sony's conference was the incredible presentation of art from tsushima but it was mediocre.

UCForce2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

@MuddyWater you reminded me of Wolly who pretended to be neutral gamer and end up being a fanboy without admitting it. I know Sony Intermission is bad and I won’t argue with that and I admit MS has won E3, but don’t try to pretend yourself a neutral here. I know what my favorite brand is and I don’t even try to hide it.

MuddyWaters2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

"you two reminded me of Wolly who pretended to be neutral gamer and end up being a fanboy without admitting it."

I haven't even been to this site very long and can already see the attitude early on display here. What we have is quite a large panel of Sony fans who are so consumed with the whole console wars it's not even funny. In every article when someone has any valid complaints about Sony they are instantly tagged as fanboy, or an Xbox fanatic. Some of you need to get outside once in awhile and stop seeing everything as we are winning, they are losing. The way some of you even go as far as defending them about the Fornite controversy for example is very telling of who the real fanboys are. It's not even about Microsoft yet to many of you that's how you see things. Pretty fricken sad.

Ghosts of Tsushima was one of my favorite games shown and will be an instant buy (same with Last of Us 2) but I will speak my mind about Sony and some of their embarrassing fans in hopes they change. How do we do that? I don't know, maybe the moderator needs to take more action by eliminating a lot of this childish behavior more. So many of you would not last long on other sites like ResetEra, they don't put up with console warrioring crap AT ALL.

But if you'd rather insult others instead while plugging your ears then that's your prerogative. You're whole condescending attitude about how we must let MS win and everything to appease fanboys is ridiculous and you know it. Go outside my friend.

uth112226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

Sony has the content, but they chose to show it off stage.

Days Gone wasn't there, Dreams wasn't there, WiLD, Concrete Genie wasn't there. the dozen or so VR games that were announce at or near E3 weren't there except for one

neutralgamer19922226d ago

Iamtyler

Let it go man ms won some delusional E3 even though Sony showed what matters

AAA exclusives

Could Sony have presented it better yes absolutely so their presentation could have been better but their games were still more than anyone else showed anywhere

I think a lot of people are high on ms E3 right now because they said we will make more powerful console again and their announcement about acquiring more studios

"the incredible presentation of art from tsushima but it was mediocre."

O so the incredible presentation was mediocre? Hahahahahaha alright

fiveby92226d ago

Although I didn't care for the presentation format for Sony, with respect to actual content and substance, they had it all over MS. MS showed other studios work which is not their own and talked about buying studios who have no real content to show. I think XBoxers are happy that MS doesn't appear to want to exit the space in that they spent money. But that doesn't mean these studios will deliver. MS recent track record shows otherwise. MS often times ruin what they touch, kinda like EA does. Last year all the hype was about SoT and SoD for games. Look what they got you. Two mediocre games at best. I boot my XBox One up and it's just depressing to see what there is to offer. Face facts. MS has little on offer anytime soon. But be happy you think you 'won' a conference but have nothing to show for it.

Gaming1012226d ago

UCFucknut, you don't sound like English is your first language. There is no "we" or "they". You didn't win or lose anything. You can buy whatever console you want. Stop it with the childish nonsense. You sound like a child whose mom won't buy him two consoles. You also don't have a clue about business, industry, or gaming quite frankly -_-

G3ng4r2226d ago

"If "winning" just comes down to paying devs to show their multiplatform games on your stage then all Sony would have to do is open their wallet like Microsoft."

Sony didn't want third party on their floor due to the musical chairs-like style of their presentation. Also playstation doesn't have a wallet like microsoft really because they have the rest of sony and now kojima to fund. Microsoft still hasn't gone all out buying studios and games even because their plan so far this gen, while a failing one, has been going an entirely different direction. Hopefully they don't take this gen too personally because sony doesn't have a single studio microsoft can't afford. :o

I respect Xbox gamers. Differ nt strokes for different folks and all that. That's said, do you prefer ms exclusives that were at E3. Forza H, Gears and a cgi for Halo infinity, basically the usual base games or do prefer Days Gone and Spiderman demos and Death Stranding, TLOU II gameplay, etc? Plus the VR demo booths etc?
What I'm asking is what is defining this E3 for Xbox and PlayStation? It's a big event so tell me what makes you think Xbox won, so to speak :), that is if you want to go into the press bs that something got to be won there?

UCForce2227d ago

I’m not Xbox fan. I’m PlayStation Loyalist, but i never believe Sony is perfect and I know they are going to make big mistake. Sony lose this year and MS won this year. So yeah, I will let them have their victory and glory.

Team_Litt2227d ago

Ori and the Will of the Wisps? Don't sleep on Ori, for me it's an even better game than Cuphead. Gameplay was shown for Ori it looked spectacular.
Tunic?
Session?
Why are you trying to push the narrative that MS only showed Gears, Forza and Halo?
Crackdown 3 was also shown with gameplay.
Battletoads was also announced.

TGG_overlord2226d ago

Sony has more exlusives, there's no doubt about it. As for me, I never got into the whole "fanboy wars" thing. I just enjoy my games and chill.

morganfell2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

"Sony lose this year and MS won this year. So yeah, I will let them have their victory and glory."

Victory? Over what? Let's put this in perspective. Is it more important that a company is perceived to win or lose one of several trade shows during the year or is a company's game catalog offered during that year of greater relevance?

When you are sitting in front of your screen of choice on a Saturday night and you're gaming, which of those two is the more pertinent factor?

alb18992226d ago

Are we talking about preference of games? Then show the same games next e3 and that's it, come on! You are more intelligent than that. There was only one surprise and everything else was already announced in others conferences. Sony's conference was boring as hell.

morganfell2226d ago

" As for me, I never got into the whole "fanboy wars" thing. I just enjoy my games and chill."

Except you have gone into threads and asked "But which version is best" and you weren't referring to Collector's vs Standard.

darthv722226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

@OB1... I will say that I liked what I saw of both MS and Sony exclusives. I love racing games so Horizon is a sure thing. LoU2 was very brutal and a definite buy same with GoT and Gears 5 because I got to see what happens next after the events of 4.

I can enjoy both platforms equally and it's a shame many others can't because they feel its taboo or something to pick up the controller of their enemy (over dramatization there). And yes, UC is a PS fan to the extreme but I get a vibe that his (or her) conceding E3 is really just a ruse. I would go on record and say Sony had the best gameplay demos for their up coming games while MS had the most new game trailers shown. The pacing and the flow was better for MS but the quality of the games on display was top notch for Sony.

MS wins in some regard while Sony wins in others.

OB1Biker2226d ago (Edited 2226d ago )

@darth
Thanks for constructive reply.
I did enjoy Gears trailer in a way I found cool, but somehow cheesy, but cool if that makes sense.
Ive always be upfront that Im not interested in xbox and the exclusives dont really apeal to me though. As a PS gamer I felt like the exclusives shown were more of the same as usual all in all, nothing really new.
'they feel its taboo or something to pick up the controller of their enemy '
Or you now, there are lots of people like me who feel its a waste of money to have different eco systems so to speak just to be able to play some of the exclusives you might want at some point. I honestly dont have the time anyway, to even p!ay all the PS games I would like to.
