Awful show which is hard to say because people will think you are saying you don't like Smash Bros...I do, I'll probably get it but wasting your show on that because you have nothing else to show is sad.

You know what the problem is? They keep revealing things at smaller Nintendo Directs throughout the year, they shouldn't do new game reveals at those smaller directs, they should be doing extending in depth showings of games already known like what they've just done with the Smash Bros E3 show. If they do a show like this as a Smash Direct closer to the games reveal then it keeps people informed and people know what to expect from that reveal.

Bayonetta 3
Metroid Prime 4
Pokemon 2019
Pokemon Lets Go (not even a new trailer)
Animal Crossing (must be being worked on)
No new IP
Zelda spin off game

I was looking forward to Nintendo's direct more than the Sony and MS Conferences. I have yet to watch it myself, but it's shame that Smash Bros seemed to be the highlight of the show. I couldn't care less about that franchise to be honest.

I don't mind waiting until 2019 to get a Switch. Ninty's working on permanently fixing the left joy-con issue, so I have updated hardware to look forward to.

DemonChicken2531d ago

It was such a smashing direct

.... Sorry i tried

I mean, I love Smash, but that's all they gave focus to. I want to see Bayonetta, I want to see the progress made on Metroid, anything. They seemed to be more worried about trying to get new watchers to find interest in Smash rather than give existing customers anything to look forward to. Wrong move. Show a trailer, have a Direct at a later time to break down the movesets of literally every character. I died inside a little yesterday.

Folks might not want to hear this but imo Bayonetta 3 & Metroid possibly a reasonably late 2019 or a early 2020 release.

FancyMudkip2531d ago (Edited 2531d ago )

And don't forget Retro Studios' project. There hasn't been any more info about their new game that they have been working on for the past 4-5 years.

DivineAssault 2531d ago

I was hoping for Wario Land. The rumors got to me with that one. Next year im sure your list will be shown. Possibly sooner with another direct. Smash & octopath are all i really have to look forward to this year for switch. Could be worse

Deamon X Machina was a new IP. Don't know if it's exclusive or not but its from the Armored Core producer and looks amazing.

gangsta_red2531d ago

That was seriously the only real highlight for me. Game looked really good.

TheFirstClassic2531d ago

Hate to say it but you're right, it was pretty disappointing. As much as I love smash it shouldn't take that much time. There was a new ip tho, that mech game they showed in the opening.

As a Nintendo fan, I am really disappointed. I bought Switch for his 2017 games but I don't see big games for the console in 2018.

FullmetalRoyale2531d ago

Same here. I bought it six months or so after release. Not pleased with 2018 one bit, as a single player gamer. While I was confused by Sony’s conference, each game they showed was a must buy for me.

TallonIV2531d ago

"I don't see big games for the console in 2018."

- Smash
- Pokemon
- Octopath Traveller
- Mario Party

Most exclusives that sony and microsoft showed were 2019+ games.

pcz2531d ago

nintendo blew it.

lets face it, Sony won e3 with ease this year

twiggytree122531d ago

That pokemon game is going to be trash, the real pokemon game isn't coming until 2019. The only worthwhile NS game this year seems to be smash. The competition is releasing much more appealing games later this year such as - Forza Horizon 4 and Spider-man PS4. Not to mention big 3rd party games like Red Dead Redemption 2. 2018 sucks for the Switch.

Elda2531d ago

I watched & personally for me I just can't get into these Nintendo games but I see the comments folks are leaving expecting to see games knowing the system is just a little over a year old & folks are not going to see every known big title from Nintendo in 15 months some of these other known Nintendo games take time to develop.

luckytrouble2531d ago (Edited 2531d ago )

The Switch is over a year old, and has almost nothing of note releasing in its second year. The Switch seemed on track to fix the game droughts of the Wii U, but now it seems perilously close to replicating the experience. Nintendo didn't bring the announcements, third parties didn't announce much for the Switch, and it doesn't leave the system in much better of a place than the Wii U was release wise. I mean, you can list all the actually noteworthy releases set for 2018 and 2019, both first and third party that aren't simply ports, on one hand. As a Switch owner, I'm happy I owned a PS4 already.

Elda2531d ago

Nintendo is Nintendo & for me that's why I haven't bought one but it's early in it's life cycle & games take time to make.Every console first couple of years has a drought but the Switch is not doing bad at all folks seem to like the system.

Pretty underwhelming direct

Bubsy's Purrfect Collection Couldn't Be in Better Hands | VGChartz Preview

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "During my time at PAX East, Sorlie walked me through two titles: the original Bubsy on SNES (his personal favorite) and the now infamous Bubsy 3D, the franchise's first foray into three dimensions. Each game in the anthology will feature the quality-of-life features common to Limited Run's Carbon Engine, including rewind, save states, screen & filter options, and even an optional "boost mode" that overclocks the system slightly to remove slowdown."

My one friend and I loved Bubsy 1. We used to compare him to Sonic all the time. So with us and the one person from this article it has at least three fans. 🤣

I was so lucky as a kid my parents convinced me to rent Busby 3d first because I was full steam ahead on buying it with my pocket money based on the advertising alone.

Audi Sorlie from Digital Foundry nice.

They kinda did in the Lego Clone Wars game. One of the stages or two was devoted to young Boba Fett, Bossk, Dengar and Aurra Sing. Shame they never did the other seasons in Lego form. I believe it only covered the first 3 and pilot turned movie.
