Hard to believe that there's now more time between MGS4 and today than there is between MGS1 and MGS4.

porkChop127d ago

Yeah, about an extra 4 months or so. That's nuts.

Nyxus127d ago

Still remember the days leading up to the release of MGS4. Even got Kojima's autograph from his World Tour.

Well, no, MGS1 came out in 1998 and MGS4 in 2008, and we're in 2018. As a matter of fact exactly as much time has passed, 10 years precisely.

I started replaying it the other day, the game has aged a bit graphically for the environments, but the characters and weapons modelization is still top notch, and I can still watch all of the cutscenes without skipping any of them, since they're so well made. It's pretty linear and (purposely, for the sake of the MGS tradition) a bit short, and a bit too wacky at times (the opening TV shows, the launching masts to throw people on board the ship in Act 5...), and its now long-dead online portion was never anything to write home about, but to this day it still very much feels like you're playing something special, right from the first seconds, a grand game, a labor of love, albeit one slightly handicapped by its demiurge's bigger-than-life audacity, pride, self-confidence and narcissism.

It's a bit of a bummer it'll stay stuck on the PS3 (like the vast majority of PS3 titles, coming to think of it), as it should've been re-released on the PS4.

To be exact, there were 9 years and 8 months between MGS1 and MGS4, and there now are 10 years between MGS4 and today. So slightly more time. :)

The best Metal gear solid game.

porkChop127d ago

It's tied with MGS3 for me. Both games were phenomenal.

Nyxus127d ago

They're all tied for me. :P It's just hard to pick one. But MGS4 holds a special place.

I've never been able to decide whether I prefer 1, 3 or 4.

Nyxus127d ago

I think it's because they're all so different, they all feel special in their own way. That's what kept the series interesting for all these years.

MGS4 was way ahead of it's time. It was amazing. I wish Metal Gear And Metal Gear 2 got the remake treatment.

Nyxus127d ago

That would be awesome, hopefully one day (it would have to be better than Survive though, obviously).

Veneno127d ago

Yes MGS 4 was truly avant garde in its presentation and no other game has come close to it to this day, although half life 2 ranks up there too.and MGo was awesome .

And it still looks absolute amazing still today. The last true great MG for me.

Love this game so much. So much fanfare.

I played through the game 6 times (last time was about 2 years ago). Can't get enough of it!
