The Battlefield V reveal earlier this week has been the subject of a very intense debate, with two main points being the cause of great unhappiness among some fans. The first being what they perceived as an unnecessary focus on female characters, and the second being DICE's emphasis on character customization.
Here's our take on the two subjects as well as the response from DICE.
That's all folks. EA anticheat has now been added into Battlefield V, so it's the end of being able to play it on Steam Deck and other Linux systems.
This joins the likes of Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2: Deluxe Edition, EA SPORTS FC 24, EA SPORTS FIFA 23, Battlefield 2042 and Madden NFL 24 that all have EA's own homegrown anti-cheat that make them simply unplayable on systems running Linux.
Now if you try to run it, you'll be greeted with an error. A shame to see a game that's multiple years old get broken like this and no doubt EA will continue to use their own EA anticheat in future online games. Battlefield 1 is still okay, and Apex Legends is also still running but perhaps it's only a matter of time before EA force it onto those too?

Yes counter cheating that is good but when the ea app on pc is still totally broken and these cheaters are on 2042 same anti cheat this is just putting scotch tape on trumps file cabinet to prevent leaks its nothing more than a stop gap.
I mention ea app as for 4years it was in beta then tossed out with 3 year old issues and i still cant not get the products that i purchased on origin yeah i purchased digital but guess what there is no dvd games on pc anymore.
The rough part of all of this is that for those of us on PC mostly be it Windows or Linux based, the anti-cheat sucks up a lot of resources. It kind of reminds me of the conversation between, security and freedom. Too much of ether is both good if managed well or very bad. We just as gamers keep seeing this pop up over and over again. Wish I had some magic wand to stop cheaters... but I don't... hell we just seen what happened with Apex at a high level event.. getting that kind of access and such is not good... but at the same time. Can anyone, one person provide me an example where Anti Cheat has even like a hit rate above 50? I know I'm pulling numbers out of my ass, but it seems the cheaters beat the systems in place time and time again. Where there is a lock, and a smith to make it. We always will have a thief that breaks it.

So steamdeck might have issues and those out there that are anti kernal drm will get a surprise. Depending on your setup you also might get new issues as i know rgb software likes to fight with easy anti cheat.
Daily Video Game writes: "There is a new digital game sale Amazon is offering for both Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One that heavily discounts several popular titles like GRID Legends, Mass Effect Legendary, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and more for Xbox owners right now!"
let them do what they want, just vote with the wallets, they only care about money, anyone with half brain knows why no loot boxes and no season pass to do with ruling in some countries in the EU that they are going get stung on gambling and all this customization is because of fortnite, fortnite made $256 million dollars in month of april alone on cosmetics and products within the game, that is all EA see, that is why ea is going this route, they say you can earn it all in game, but we all know they will sell cosmetics
It's a video game not a museum. Fun is the only thing that matters. Leave history to schools.
If people are going to get triggered about this not making sense then why aren't people getting triggered over, "Male like females", I see in games all over the place these days?.. You know, where men are basically hopeless comedic relief baffoons while women wrestle bad men to the ground and stab them as the alpha, then lead a pack of said men to victory?
Or how about every ethnic person being magically leaders of man, heroes, reasonable and never racist while being incapable of being bad, "bad ass is fine though", drug abusers, violent offenders or glare-happy jerks?
..I could probably label off another 100 ridiculous things I see in modern games that SHOULD trigger people, but this suddenly doesn't because for some reason some people think war must be respected like it's some kind of holy grail?
...A video game is a toy. A game. Something for kids, teens, adults. It's an escape from reality not a horrible reminder of how much people, "and our history", sucks. Let female gamers have great role models, let ethnic people escape oppressive cultures imo.
It's only game. Why you heff to be mad?
Frankly i couldnt care less about the customization cuz ill be too busy trying to stay alive to notice.I dont think Dice will go overboard with it.im sure all customization will fall within the time of the war.But the PC SJWS need to stop accusing anyone who doesnt agree with certain things of the games of being Racists or Misogynists.I advice everyone to take a chill pill and wait until EA play for more info regarding all this by the sounds of looks like they may have an option to disable cosmetics for certain modes so it can please both sides.
My beef with cutomization is simple: EA said they wont have lootboxes and that all MTs are gonna be cosemetic , and THEN they center the whole game around customization... now add 1 and 1 together ...
If its fun, it's all good for me. Already like the idea of removing the Season Pass and Loot Boxes. No pay-to-win trumps any issues for me.
