Level 5 has announced that Ni no Kuni 2 has sold 900K copies worldwide so far.
Not too bad I guess. By the way there's a small mistake in the article. It says the first game was on consoles but the first was actually for DS.
Actually, I think he means first game like part one which was on both, not which iteration of the first one came first... if that makes sense.
Congrats level 5! Loved the game. A great mix of rts/base building/RPG/action adventure/open world.. nothing like it on the market. Hoping they bring back the monster hunter/collection aspect of it for the next game.. didn't really care for the blob looking like thing collection.
There's a bigger mistake in the article. It makes it seem like 900k players own the game. That's not the case. 900k shipped + digital copies. This means that less than 900k gamers own the game. And considering the fact that many online stores still have Day 1 Editions... this game is not selling well to gamers.
According to NPD, NNK2 brought in 60% higher returns in first months sales than the first game. http://www.gamerevolution.c... I'm also not finding anything backing up your claim of units shipped, as opposed to units sold. This game didn't have a modern AAA budget so it doesn't need to sell millions upon millions to be profitable.
@NapalmSanctuary Here you go: http://www.4gamer.net/games...
All of which are sold.
@Knushwood Butt Not to customers. They have been sold to stores. If they don't sell to customers, they will be sent back.
Sent back? No, they are sold. If retailers bought more than there is demand, then they go on sale. End of story.
Nice, that's great! Glad it's selling so well.
It's a great game. I'm playing it right now.
Great job and well deserved. By the way where is the guy that compared this to SoT sale?
Imo is not as good as the 1st one which I consider to be underrated but I'm happy that for its genre, it has sold so well. More jrpgs please!
Good game. I don't like it as much as the PS3 one though. Kingdom building and skirmish battles are unnecessary and grindy. The boss battles are very easy too, even if their level count is over 10 higher than your party members. That said, I would've liked kingdom building had it been like Dark Cloud. I find it weird how there's a shipyard when your kingdom is located in land, and how two lumber camps are right by each other. Nitpicky stuff, but somethings I'd like different in a hypothetical Ni no Kuni III.
nobody realized that nino2 was a watered down version of the first one? a far cry from the brilliance of the first one? is all that it takes the same logo as the first game and the fanboys start drooling? c‘mon. nino 2 is a dull mess for casuals. what‘s the point when you can beat every monster every fight and villain wth the same cheap attacka? it‘s a sign of VERY low quality.
Can't disagree more. It's far better than the first in pretty much everything except the lore and the music. It's very easy at first but becomes challenging in the later chapters, and the gameplay is way more fun and intuitive this time around.
I feel the same. I loved the first one, but I couldn’t even bring myself to care about this one at all. It’s like how I feel about Gravity Rush 2. Both sequels were disappointing in my book.
This is shipments + digital sales. So under 900k gamers actually own the game. And considering the fact that many online stores still have Day 1 Editions... not many gamers actually own this.
Like I said in an earlier post, It doesn't need to sell in the multiple millions to be profitable enough.
love the game just wish there was more voice acting
I agree. I dunno why it goes to voice acting one minute then silent speech the next. Perhaps it was because of the budget?
I dont know, they can make up as many excuses as they want, its was simply published by Bandai Namco and they have the funding behind it to do the voice acting justice if they wanted to, pure ignorance and profiteering if you ask me
Fantastic. It will reach 2 million in no time. Joining Xenoblade, Persona 5 and Nier as multimillion megahits. JRPG for the win!
It has only shipped 900k, and many online stores still have Day 1 Editions. Not many gamers actually own this. Nioh reached 1 million shipments in 2 weeks and 1.9 million in 1 year. This will probably barely reach 1.5 million shipments in its lifetime.
I still think it could do 2. But, 1.5 million is very good.
Which is still successful for a japanese game...the amount of comments saying the same thing makes me think you cant stand that fact.
Thanks for the enthusiastic clarification.
Can these sites stop claiming shipped copies as sold?
This article article really upset you huh? Look at how many comments you've spammed here.
It does. These news sites have only one job and they still succeed in fucking up.
I think we can guess the 2 people who disagreed with every positive comment.
Are you mad that it's doing well or something? Chill out.
900k shipments in 2 months and online stores still having Day 1 Editions is not doing well at all.
Fyi 900k is a successful jrpg.
I got it a few days ago. I'm loving it. It's a great game. And I usually hate jrpgs.
Happy for Level 5. Almost finished with it and really enjoying it :)
Glad to hear it.
Well, Level 5 earns it.
Not bad at all. It'll cross the million mark soon
Main character still looks like a girl
I honestly thought it sold around 200k. I'm glad it's much higher.
