Prey's New Achievements Continue Teasing DLC

An update has given the Steam version of Prey new achievements. Prey's new achievements appear to be further teasing new content of some type.

Chaosdreams2166d ago

Pretty strong tease right there. I've been meaning to get back to Prey, loved what I experienced during the beginning (just got side tracked). DLC is a nice motivator to get my act together.

Direwolf4842166d ago

For sure. I'm also hoping that with this all-but-confirmed DLC/expansion on the way that Prey will get an Xbox One X enhancement patch.

-Foxtrot2166d ago

I'd rather have Evil Within 2 DLC

DarkOcelet2166d ago

Am sure Tango is working on it.

Spoiler Alert....

I would love to know what the hell happened to Sykes and if there is in fact, a deeper level of STEM, i would wanna see that. And I wanna see how the hell did Joseph actually made it out of STEM from the first place and I would love to see a teaser about Ruvik's return in Leslie's body in TEW 3. There is a potential for so many stories to be told in the world of TEW.

-Foxtrot2166d ago (Edited 2166d ago )

Unfortunately we don't really know considering they said it underperformed and the last games DLC hit around about now release wise.

There's Sykes and Joseph to do DLC on but I guess you could do them together if they manage to meet somehow. Maybe Joseph was a test subject on the deeper parts of STEM and they manage to work together to get out or Joseph is just what Kidman is to Sebastian in the main campaign, a voice in his ear.

Anyway they will need to tease Ruvik's return and hint at how STEM was reactivated at the end of the last game. I wonder if that's how Sebastian gets dragged into it again. Will he be kidnapped as revenge or because there's something special about him Ruvik needs or will he learn about Ruvik's return and decide he's the only one who can stop him, however I didn't think he'd want to leave his daughter behind after just getting her back.

DarkOcelet2166d ago

As much as i would love for Seb to return, i think his arc is over. He got a happy ending ( for the most part) so i say leave it at that and maybe put more focus on Joseph and Kidman or introduce new characters to the world just like Resident Evil did with almost every iteration.

-Foxtrot2166d ago (Edited 2166d ago )

I don't think it's over for him yet...I highly doubt Ruvik is going to let him walk away. I think he's get one more game and THEN his story will be over. He'll be dragged back in against his will this time along with Joseph and Kidman, I mean you can't bring Leslie and Ruvik back without Seb, it'll feel like something is missing considering they seem to be related to those characters. They need to take the third game to bring in a new arc or character.

I like things coming in threes...wraps up Sebs arc in a nice trilogy.

Me too . I did enjoy prey also but got bored playing it and it became a chore to finish in the end. Evil within 2 I enjoyed all the way and would love some more missions in that world

Can't wait for this. Prey was a massive surprise by how great it was, I hadn't had such a cinematic sci-fi experience since Dead Space 1&2. The crafting mechanic was genius and like nothing I had ever seen before, as were the mimics placing a new type of strategy how you entered each seemingly isolated room. I never really liked the depressing universe of Dishonored so Arkane really surprised me here.

I can honestly say although totally different and just using the title, Prey (2006) and the Prey (Reboot) were total equals and on reflection, I don't mind that Prey 2 didn't happen.

Also is anyone else seeing a lot of the cancelled Prey 2's concepts in the gameplay trailer for Rage 2 or is it just me?

I platinumed prey and I would absolutely buy some dlc.

10 Commercial Flops That Are Actually Good Games

BY JOHN: There are lots of commercially successful games that are, to put it mildly, not very good. Whether they launch broken, or they’re just a cookie-cutter version of another title, some games just hit the jackpot when it comes to sales numbers.

But, what about those games that are well worth playing but don’t sell well? It can be too easy to miss a great gaming experience just because it wasn’t a commercial smash hit, despite having a strong story or interesting gameplay mechanics. This can be due to poor marketing, the timing not being right in the market or dozens of other reasons.

Here are ten games that flopped commercially but are well worth checking out.

Prey shouldn't have been connected to the original, they should've changed the name. It looked good and had decent exploration but it was way too long and the ending was trash. Definitely gets more praise in the comments than it should.

FinalFantasyFanatic171d ago

I actually hated Prey after playing the demo, for me, it felt so bad to play, I agree that it gets more praise than it deserves. Most of this list is fine though, there are some really good games on there.

Nacho_Z170d ago

I couldn't get on with Prey either, sounded great on paper but I didn't enjoy it at all. I don't think I like Arkane, tried to get into Dishonored years before and it left me cold.

Concertoine170d ago

Did you play it on ps4/xbone? If so, yeah, it played terribly on those machines. 90 second load times, horrible input lag.

I couldnt enjoy the game until it got updated for Series X

Barlos170d ago

I really want to like Prey. I've gone back to it a few times on my Steam Deck but I don't know, I just can't get into it. Mind you, I'm not the biggest fan of immersive sims

FinalFantasyFanatic170d ago

@Concertoine,

Actually it was PS4, I don't recall anyone mentioning that it was console specific at the time though.

I liked Prey (2017), but I think the original Prey was more polished and arguably better game of the two. If Bethesda had been so cheap, Prey (2017) could have trade marked as “Nightmare on Talos” or “Typhon “.

Minute Man 721170d ago

Played the demo of Prey (2007)

Never got around to actually playing it but it's BC so one day (soon) I'll hunt it down

shinoff2183170d ago

I really liked prey, but I'll add I never finished. Dishonored, was a borefest for me I couldn't get into it with multiple times of trying.

gigoran8170d ago

The ORIGINAL Prey sequel looked dope as F. I would have loved to have played that instead of what we got.

I couldn’t get into Prey when I played it. I own it so I’ll try again someday.

Petebloodyonion171d ago

I think the issue with Prey is how the media were infatuated with everything done by Arkane Studio and the Dishonored Universe.
For some reason they need to remind us all the time that Dishonored is among the best games and everything related to that suddenly becomes near perfection.
cue the same treatment for Deathloop.

Crows90170d ago

Dishonored 1 is incredible. The 2nd is pretty darn good too ...

All their other games have been average to bad.

FinalFantasyFanatic170d ago (Edited 170d ago )

Idk if I agree, I never really hear Dishonoured being talked about a lot, I think the amount of attention Deathloop got was fine for what it was, then again, I never really cared that much for Arkane Studio's games.

gold_drake170d ago

omg. Blur was soo good, still have my copy :)

LoveSpuds170d ago

I think the problem was releasing at the same time as another great racer, Split Second, no doubt the cannibalised each others potential sales.

Both great games but I think I prefer Split Second, just about!!

Arkane Studios is Leaving Money on the Table Without a Prey 2

Game Rant Writes "With Redfall's launch on the horizon, Arkane Studios shouldn't miss out on the renewed popularity of a particular genre with a sequel to Prey."

It was ok but not a great game . Plus gamepass will prevent physical sales. It’s not a system seller type of game

SimpleSlave388d ago

One of the best game of the generation with the worst name ever. Neuro Shock (not Prey 2017) alongside the Dishonored franchise should be given the 1st Party treatment by Microsawft.

Why buy absolute monster studios like Arkane just to waste them away making Gamepass bait? Don't you have Rare for that? Soon you'll have ActivisionBlizzard for that too.

Give this Redfall: Rebellion version of the game to a low tier studio and let Arkane make a true 1st Party Single Player game about vampires called Redfall.

SMH...

shinoff2183388d ago

I enjoyed prey but if I remember right the original stuff had you playing a alien bounty hunter. Would've been so much more fun
