Sean Murray is the lead developer and the founder of Hello Games who has worked on No Man's Sky. Despite the small size of the development team, No Man's Sky has ended up being an incredibly ambitious game and received a great support post-launch with major updates.

It is 2018. We have this incredible thing called "the internet". Inside of this wondrous place you can find things called "websites". One of these websites is called "YouTube". On it you can watch, either pre-recorded or even *gasp* LIVE gameplay of ANY game you want! This allows you to see what a game is about before buying it! There are other similar sites like Twitch!

Also, there are many, MANY websites devoted to the coverage of videogames. In these websites people will explain, using words and pictures (yes even moving pictures!), EXACTLY what a game is about. In minute detail.

If you got "suckered" and "deceived" by No Man's Sky you have fuck all to blame but yourself. It is plainly obvious, as their stellar post launch updates and content can't attest to, that they weren't purposefully misleading people to dupe them. They bit off more than they could chew and they've spent all this time doing what they set out to. Fuckin "gamers" man. I consistently fear my face will cringe so hard it will collapse into a singularity with the amount of manbabyish attitudes. But hey, YOU KEEP FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT THERE BROTHER!

Apparently some studios & companies can be forgiven multiple times when promising big & under delivering while a small indie developer, with a unique & ambitious game, would be burnt at the stake for the same even after working for two years to rectify it.
