State of Decay 2 (XOne) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Brandon J. Wysocki: "In the end, although no one glitch or unpolished element is game-breaking, they combine to noticeably hinder the experience. I will note that the developer is “committed to fixing issues up to and beyond launch”, but this is where the game is now. The story never really does anything more than serve as a loose form and guidance for your gameplay experience. In two playthroughs, no character or plot point was memorable. And yet, I’ve had a hell of a time playing the game, and many memorable moments during my time with it. Some of the execution has more room for improvement than you’d expect from a sequel, especially one published by Microsoft, but overall it provides a unique, fun, and satisfying gameplay experience."

Damn MS how could have your studios release games in this fashion, and think people will have any confidence in your company to provide them with quality games?

How long has vgcharts been reviewing games?

IamTylerDurden1248d ago

The game is getting bad reviews all over. It's not just VG. It's getting similar reviews as Sea of Thieves, 69 Open Critic whereas Sea of Thieves is a 66.

Last E3 featured 3 big 2018 games for Microsoft and at the time i said that they all looked terrible. I got slammed for it but i truly was shocked with how bad Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, and Crackdown 3 looked at the conference. And now these games are providing that they were indeed bad games. I was just dumbfounded with the quality of those 3 titles last year.

It's kind of sad how mismanaged and misguided Phil and Co are at the moment. They care more about mp and GaaS than quality. And for Phil to take shots at sp games while pitting your mp duds against God of War which has set the world on fire is sad. Could you imagine what Shu could come out and say about recent mp games from MS and others? Sea of Thieves, SoD2, Radical Heights ect? But certain companies have class, certain companies don't.

I also said all 3 looked terrible upon viewing them during E3, and it looks like it turned out like I thought it would. We all know CD3 will suffer the same fate lol.

This! Imo all 3 looked terrible (not only visually) but because ms has such a draught of games, until sea of thieves released i still thought it was possible that ms let their devs polish these games so they (while not being systemsellers in any shape or form) would at least be in an acceptable state. But they couldn't even get that right and released games that any indie dev with 5-20 people could have done, maybe better.
It's sad that the richest of the 3 companies isn't ashamed to release low quality games like SoT and SoD, Crackdown next. "Gamers" who still defend this deserve no better, sorry.
