It has been fun. I did have a fun time with PS Vtia. Killzone Mercernary and Teraway are my two favorite PS Vita games.

mikeslemonade155d ago

Told you guys it was dead 3 years ago.

naruga155d ago (Edited 155d ago )

brilliant console --abysmal (almost insulting ) Sony stance to it and us ...Why Sony?? i trusted you ... why no Monster hunter 3 or 4 on the damn system, why not one damn good platfomer on it ?? (ok GRush was stellar but it is only one game on a whole damn system) of my biggest mistakes to buy the system that i will not repeat it 2nd time (if SOny ever releases a Vita 2 ) ...after the jugernaught PSP was (literally thousands gameplay hours on it), i never thought Vita will be almost DOA ....

TomatoDragon155d ago

Dead hardware doesn’t continue getting games.

Neonridr155d ago

@TomatoDragon - if you are a fan of Japanese games and the odd indie title, then yes, the Vita is still thriving. But for the other 99% of us, it's dead :P

Knushwood Butt155d ago (Edited 155d ago )

Yeah, cuz nobody likes Japanese games ??

Very strange comment from a Nintendo fan.

mikeslemonade155d ago

So the Dreamcast isn't dead. And that would mean the PS2 was alive until like 2014 or later.

GamesMaster1982155d ago

Yeah people just do't like to accept the truth. It's a excellent handheld but has been dead along time since Sony pretty much abandoned support for the thing, I bet the PSVR will go down the same route too.

Vegamyster155d ago

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Chicken Range, Ice Cream Surfer HD & Russian Subway Dogs ect lol. 99% of the games it does get are indies nobody has heard of or old simple games like Shovel Knight/Stardew Valley ect, it's not technically dead but what little it does get isn't exactly exciting.

zaherdab155d ago

Wow and it only took 3 years for the prophecy to come true!!!

darthv72155d ago

Despite Sony pulling the plug, there is a community of creative indie developers who are still making games for it. Many of which get released in physical form thanks to outfits like LRG.

indyman7777154d ago (Edited 154d ago )

Blank this! I'm not buy digital games for PS Vita. How long before they pull the plug on supporting any digital downloads? it wont be long now. Thank goodness for my PS4 pro. I also have PStv which is a screen less PSVita. I expect used game prices to go up now.

PSP did good while it was alive though and so did PSVita.

WipEout, Uncharted, Gravity rush, Tearaway were my favorites.
KZ was good but multiplayer was zone locked. nobody plays it online.

very underrated console. extremely powerful but not even sony believed in it.
what a pity.

naruga155d ago (Edited 155d ago )

Uncharted and Killzone were not the kind of games that could move portable consoles ... it was an absolute mistake from Sony s side to even fund the development of these titles ......could have given the money to its japanese comapnies and develop real gems ......only Gravity Rush was 10/10 and perfect for portable or home console but it s only one

UCForce155d ago

@naruga Wow ! You are not helping here. The reason why PS Vita didn’t sell a lot because the overpriced of memory card and the handle itself. And again, you are still hating Western gaming way too much. So i’m going ask you a question. Why do you hate Western gaming so much ? And was there any Western game that you like ?

rainslacker154d ago (Edited 154d ago )

People complained it didn't have games. Sony made games. People complained it didn't seem like a console on the go. Sony made console games for it. People disregarded the games and acted like Sony wasn't supporting it. Now Naruga says that it didn't need console games, but games tailored around the portable Tearaway or Killzone which I guess.

It didn't really matter what Sony did, because no one gave them credit for it.

bouzebbal154d ago

sony made a huge mistake because YOU dont think these games are moving handhelds?
GR didn't even sell half of what Golden Abyss did.
and the moving portables discussion we shouldn't worry much about. it's sony's problem.

getbacktogaming155d ago

Those were pretty fun! Killzone looked really good too... But honestly Sony's terrible support of the vita has really disappointed me but I got over it when I managed to sell it for more than I had paid used 3 years prior :D

SuperSonic91155d ago (Edited 155d ago )

Never ever boughy a physical copy on my Vita. Every game is digital for me.

melons155d ago

The only thing holding me back from a Vita was the memory cards.

ObviousGoldfish155d ago

Many more reasons you nor anyone else buying a vita than just memory cards.

Prince_TFK155d ago

You are right. But the memory card is the biggest problem here for most people. As for me, I sold it due to the fact that Sony stopped support it just two year after its release.

Eonjay155d ago

I bought one and yest he is right. The memory cards created a situation where it wasn't worth it.

Razzer155d ago (Edited 155d ago )

That and the rise of smartphone gaming.

Twinblade155d ago

Smartphone gaming is a joke.

AmstradAmiga154d ago

That had nothing to do with it. That's just Sony's spin on why the Vita failed.

Sgt_Slaughter154d ago

Portable sales went down but if smartphone gaming was as big as it's supposed to be outside of pay-to-play gimmicks, the 3DS wouldn't be at almost 80 million.

Razzer154d ago (Edited 154d ago )

"Smartphone gaming is a joke."

I agree, but it is also big business.

If you guys think smartphones and tablets had no affect on Vita then sorry, you are just wrong. Nintendo was more immune to the affects of smartphone gaming as it targeted children more than adults. Children are far less likely to own a smartphone. Adults are far less likely to want to carry around multiple devices. Do the math, folks. Why do you think Sony jumped ship so quickly from supporting Vita? The market moved elsewhere.

AmstradAmiga154d ago

Smartphone gaming had already been prevalent when the Vita arrived on scene. Sony failed to give enough reason for people to want a Vita in addition to a smartphone. Consumers have no trouble taking a Switch and smartphone around with them.

Razzer154d ago

Yes, but it took some time for smartphone gaming to kick in and the public to jump on board. By the time Vita arrived, smartphone gaming was the rage.

"Sony failed to give enough reason for people to want a Vita in addition to a smartphone. "

Exactly my point.

"Consumers have no trouble taking a Switch and smartphone around with them. "

Switch is hybrid and will more than likely take over the 3DS market at some point. Like I said, smartphones are a lesser market for children whom are Nintendo's primary target.

drpepperdude155d ago

I bought a Vita and sold it because of the lack of space to buy digital games or use any of it's media features. Of course the next biggest issue I had was the library which was way worse than my PSP. I didn't need AAA experiences on the go, I just needed quality games above indie budget level.

Knushwood Butt155d ago

Enjoying Velocity 2X on the OLED

bouzebbal155d ago

damn what a game!!
you should be able to control your nerves while playing that.

Knushwood Butt155d ago

I've perfected 32 stages so far.

It's slow progress.

Did you get the DLC?

CocoaBrother155d ago

Great game. Probably my proudest platinum. I hope you enjoy it; it's truly fantastic.

Oh what could have been!
