Loved this game but there is no way in hell i will be even attemping this difficuly, i dont want to spartan rage myself and put my fist through the tv haha. I still however will be going for the platinum trophy as game is amazing and this difficulty is not a requirement.

DivineAssault 2563d ago

Agreed.. I finished it on "give me a challenge" and that was brutal enough for me.. Especially the secret bosses.. Never doing that on the hardest setting. No time no patience for that lol

Glad I'm not the only one getting my ass kicked on hard. . . Not sure I'll try that God level either. . Drop me off mate

I really had to work hard to beat the first valkyrie on hard. . Stuck with a distance approach. . Get as far away so that unusually long wing attack isn't used. .

Gazondaily2563d ago

Hard mode was the perfect setting for this. No way am I attempting the final one though haha

Beat it on 2nd hardest and that was all I needed lol. Amazing game easy 10 one of the best games I've played.

I've died at least over 50 times lol

Lexreborn22562d ago

I’m pretty sure I’m in the hundreds for deaths

joab7772563d ago

I did hard on first try and the beginning was tough, but now about half way, it’s much, much easier. So this shouldn’t be too bad. Just require constant focus.

I wish we got gear for hard difficulty to take into this.

Jinger2563d ago

There is a big difference between hard and Give Me God of War. Not only health/strength/defense but also in attack patterns and they also go into a rage mode where they get their life back, get even stronger and you can't disrupt or juggle them.

Lexreborn22562d ago

I’m on my first play through and playing on Give me God of war. It’s actually pretty incredible, I did get frustrated in the beginning on how everything was killing me in one hit but when you start getting really good at evading and blocking it’s pretty intense. I just freed my first dragon and that entire area was rough but at the end it felt soooo rewarding so I’m glad I’m playing on this difficulty

bangoskank2562d ago

I had to go from hard to normal difficulty because the Muspeheim trials were too brutal. I just don't have time to keep getting my ass kicked. This is still one of my favorite games ever though.

bluefox7552563d ago (Edited 2563d ago )

Lol, forget that. Even normal is quite a bit more challenging than most games. People make "Dark Souls" comparisons, and I imagine hard to be similar to that in difficulty. The next one up is probably ridiculous.

DaGR8JIBRALTAR2563d ago

Normal is very doable. The next one up from that and you start to get a little aggravated.

bluefox7552563d ago

Agreed. I'm doing normal, and it's certainly doable, but I'm not cruising through normal like I do in most games, I actually have to focus, and I die sometimes, lol.

Christopher2562d ago

Have people done Valkyrie and +3 level fights on normal? Doable isn't really the word I'd use. There's a challenge there if you try to do side items as they unlock rather than at their level. Did my first Valkyrie fight as a level 4, it was very tough.

MrChow6662563d ago (Edited 2563d ago )

I beat the game on normal it wasn't easy, specially the valkyries, I lost the count of the times the valkyrie queen mopped the floor with my face lol

bluefox7552563d ago

For me, it is the perfect difficulty. It is difficult, but never feels unfair.

madforaday2562d ago

What level were you around when you did the Valkyries?

maybelovehate2562d ago (Edited 2562d ago )

What game is it more challenging on Normal than? And no, even on the toughest difficulty it isn't the same type of challenge as Dark Souls or Bloodborne.

Goldby2561d ago

bud, just stop.

im playing through the game on give me god of war, and it is much more difficult than dark souls or bloodborne.

sure theres the one shots in both games. but let me know of a regular 1st are enemy (not even a boss) who can level up mid fight, gain half if not all their health back and because immune to CC like tripping or freezing or juggling.

oh and let me know, cuz i cant seem to find my estus flask or bloodvials in god of war that will regain 50+% of my health back when ever i need it.

downplaying is getting pathetic maybe

maybelovehate2561d ago

You mean the blood vials you had to spend hours farming so you had a good chance and enemies that don't flash to give away their moves lol. How about you stop. God of War was made for casuals. Which is fine. They make up the majority of the market.

Goldby2561d ago

What shitty place were you farming for vials, I rarely had to use any. May be because I k ow how to use the. Mechanics in bloodborne.

Give me God of war isn't for casuals sto trying to make it sound like that.

Maybe actually try beating the game on Give me God of war difficulty and then come back

maybelovehate2561d ago

Unless you had watched videos the bosses in Bloodborne had very difficult patterns to learn. Hell some of the ads had difficult patterns. The only way to learn them was to get punished. This isn’t god of war with flashing circles to tell you what is coming.

Goldby2561d ago

Really no need to watch videos. Just like in God of war with the yellow and red circles, there are tell tale signs of when an attack is coming. Every enemy in bb has a 3 stage attack. Wind up, pause, and attack. If you shoot them while they are in the pause section of the attack it allows visceral attacks, which can eventually allow you to one hit bosses.

Both are challenging, but give me god of war difficulty is much harder, than Dark souls or bloodborne.

To say it's casual because there are signs of when an attack are coming is to say every game is casual as all games have their signs that an attack is incoming.

maybelovehate2561d ago

Sorry but not even remotely similar in challenge. The saving system is more casual. The tell tale signs are blatantly casual. Hell they even have text that pops up telling you what to do on some of the bosses :D

PaulFiend2563d ago (Edited 2563d ago )

Playing it at 'Give Me God of War', not as hard as 2nd and 3rd parts on their maximum difficulties after you've upgraded Kratos (and Atreus!!!) a bit. Still great challenge and very hard at the very beginning.

LoveSpuds2563d ago

I got the plat on Bloodborne and have completed each of the Souls games multiple times, God of War is brutally hard, never going to play this on the hardest setting, I think it would be too much for me....I am getting old!

Eidolon2562d ago (Edited 2562d ago )

It's hard dude, some of the boss/mini-boss battles are freaking ridiculous and have me scrambling for changes to my gear/runics/enchantments. I tried the first valkyrie on balanced the first time I came accross her, my god. I swear I tried to beat her 30 times, no go. I just had to get stronger and get better range of equipment and enchantments. And you can say I have a plat on Bloodborne, just some replay left, no difficulty wall. Dark souls 1/2/3 I've played, more so 1 and 3, but that first Valkyrie encounter was more brutal than I can remember from a souls game, on BALANCED

LoveSpuds2562d ago (Edited 2562d ago )

Yup, I hear you squire, those Valkyrie are insane, I have managed to beat 3 of them so far but the 3rd one took me a good 2 hours. I knew I needed to quit and come back once I had better gear, but I am a stubborn old goat sometimes 🐐 😀

nix2562d ago

i was playing on Normal because i really wanted to not play like a p*ssy but the cylindrical elevator thing happened and i just couldn't get over the third wave... so i moved to "give me a story". even then i had a hard time handling the cleric because all the time i've been killing them from a distance. didn't realise you could use arrows to zap him and then you could run to him and chop him off.

anyways... i never was able to kill any of the Valkyrie. i kept getting hit even though i rolled away from her. Anyways... i'm not proud of finishing it on easy mode but after 20+ hours of struggling throughout i really was ready to just finish the story. i think i'll move to normal mode when go back and try to finish the rest of the side modes etc. if i go back, that is.

having said that - amazing game! totally lived beyond my expectation. my only gripe is that i don't have that much of a knowledge when it comes to Norse mythology... so everything that was happening was too much for me to grasp.

Eidolon2562d ago (Edited 2562d ago )

Although, the 30 times were with 0 rage and the lowest resurrection stone and pretty under equipped. I never moved from the checkpoint until I got at least close to beating her, trying out different equipment and stategies.. just gave up.. got her to freaking 1/100 health and died(last life). This was Geidriful

Aceman182562d ago (Edited 2562d ago )

So far I've beaten 3 valkyries, and all 3 annoyed the hell out of me on hard mode hahaha

@Eid

The one you mentioned is tough as hell, but when I finally beat her ass I felt relieved lol.

Ex-PlayStation Boss Shuhei Yoshida Pushed for God of War Reboot Delay

Former PlayStation Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida saw God of War as a "problem" when he first played it, and advocated for its delay.

gold_drake26d ago

yea, its also mentioned in the documentary they did about it.

isarai26d ago

Ye, it just wasn't up to their standards, nothing wrong with that imo

Goodguy0126d ago

And it became one of my most favorite games of all time and I still like it more than the sequel.

goken26d ago

Well if a game/movie/project needs fixing, especially something with the legacy that god of war does. Delay and fix it, don’t ruin the legacy by releasing crap.

Babadook725d ago

Way to go.

Like Miyamoto famously said.

“A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”

Where's the remaster/port of the Greek Saga?

micdagoat1941d ago

On PS3? they "remaster" games that are barely 5 years old. We can't even play the ones from PS3 natively right now on a PS5

micdagoat1941d ago

Sony has been so quiet about that its annoying. I have no idea why they wouldn't

spicelicka41d ago

As much as I love the new God of war saga, I really miss the scale and epic set pieces of the OG games :/

SonyStyled41d ago

Thank you Mr. Jaffe. Few franchises stay relevant for 20 years. Thank you Stig, and Corey too
