The latest Japanese hardware sales from Media Create are as follows:

God of War isn't very popular in Japan, so I don't expect it to move huge numbers sadly. Switch took 7/10 too which is not bad.
Only 2 days of sales for both LABO and God Of War though. Week ending 4/22.
@Moonman - just looking at history of other God of War games, they barely crack 100K. I am sure this game has the potential to at least one-up the other games, but I wouldn't expect crazy numbers from that title. It's a shame though, it's really solid.
Gow III lifetime sales: 417,866 in Japan and Asia. let's see if this one topples that
God of War isn't popular in Japan, but it boosted PS4 Pro sales? Which is it?
@Knushwood Butt - "boosted" is an interesting word. Selling a few thousand extra is hardly something to run home and tell mommy about.
It sure is intetesting when it is a 608% boost. Those not very popular games have a big impact on hardware sales. Or, maybe low supply of the hardware is dictating the sales. Which is it?
low supply? how about low demand?
Comparing the last two weeks of figures, PS4 Pro saw a 608% boost in sales Standard PS4 saw a 47% drop in sales
and neither even came close to Switch sales.. :P
Standard PS4 saw a 47% drop in sales due to low supply.
on a side note.... I could actually see McD's making a deal with Nintendo for some LABO type happy meal box creations. After the kid is done with the happy meal, they can use the box to make new LABO creations. It would be a win win for both parties.
nice debut for Labo. Nice boost to Pro sales (maybe because of God of War)? But then a big drop in regular PS4 sales as a result. Switch hardware just doing its thing..
Is that the first time pro has out sold ps4 base model, would love to get European and USA pro sales numbers to see how they've done for a first dip into the mid gen upgrade cycle.
I think it might be.
Because the Pro got a new shipment last week, but it has already dried up. http://n4g.com/news/2163830... Also, the black 500 GB PS4 got a new shipment this week, so that should be higher when the next Media Create figures are released. Like I have been saying for some time, stocks have been low, but they are rumoured to be boosted now that it's a new financial year.
give it up.. PS4 won't outsell the Switch again this year most likely.
Quite probably, but that has nothing to do with my point. Prediction for next week's Mefia Create report: PS4 Pro notably down compared to the previous week. Standard PS4 significantly higher than the previous week, and standard PS4 sales higher than PS4 Pro.
Give it up. There is no stock shortage. PS4 is not selling. Stop with excuses, what company their stock? Are you serious?
Labo did great. GOW has never been popular in Japan. Then again, Zelda was never that popular in Japan, but BOTW changed that. That is what a real game changer can do for a series.
Well said, i do not understand people on here, they try to down play Zelda, but their favorite developers love Zelda and even explain what they like from it, didn't the developers just vote Zelda game of the year at gdc, but people on here disagree
Zelda won every major GOTY in 2017. Epic sweep. BOTW sales are Top 10 in every country still to this day...even UK last week!
This is the 8th week in a row that the Switch has outsold every other console combined in Japan . . . and that's all after the PS4 got it's biggest Japanese game yet, with Monster Hunter World. I've been saying since the reveal that a hybrid pretty much guarantees Nintendo takes over the Japanese market. At this point you can guarantee any company looking at making a Japanese focused game is going to be keeping the Switch in mind. If Nintendo drops Pokemon this year I think they could hit 10,000,000 sold in Japan by the end of its second year, which would be huge. I think the Switch will hit 30+ million in Japan by the end of its life.
Pokemon or Monster Hunter Switch are literally gonna cause stampedes in Japan. The Switch has a very bright future there.
Switch survive Dragon quest, monster hunter, far cry and god of war And get this no big hitter for the first 4 months of 2018 and it leads year to date
Yeah, I remember when people were bringing up The Last Guardian, Ni No Kuni 2, Shadow of the Colossus Remastered, Mosnter Hunter, Dragon Quest, Gravity Rush, Neir, Nioh, Yakuza . . . Apparently the PS4 would pick up in Japan once games like those came out. Well, they've come and gone and the PS4 only hits about 10,000 a week. I don't think it's just that Japan prefers handhelds either. Sony's first party studios make predominately Western-focused games and they rely on third-party partnerships to keep the PS4 afloat in Japan. It'll be interesting to see if they can keep those partnerships going with the PS5 since the Switch is now getting many of the Japanese games that were previously exclusive and by the time the PS5 launches the Switch could be at 20 million in Japan.
30+ million is possible but I 'm gonna play it a little safer and say 25 million.
Eh, but that's an incredibly safe prediction. The Switch still hasn't gotten titles like Monster Hunter, Pokemon, Smash Bros, an original Mario Kart, etc . . . And it still managed to sell just about 4 million there in one year even though it had severe stock shortages for a large portion of the year. Typically handheld sales peak a lot later than home console sales. So If sales continue to increase and the Switch is on the market for just five years, it would likely hit 25 million. It's also got far less competition there than any console has had in the past. 25 million is honestly about the bare minimum I'd expect.
"Sony's first party studios make predominately Western-focused games and they rely on third-party partnerships to keep the PS4 afloat in Japan." 100% Agreed
It will be in the charts for quite sum time!
Say what you want about Nintendo but they definitely take the biggest risks when it comes to console gaming. I would have never imagined Labo to do as well as it seems to be doing.
Why was my comment marked as inappropriate? You have people like LIME spewing BS every week, but I get flagged for laughing at a long time BS claim that the PS4 suddenly, out of nowhere, has a shortage is a problem?
Sony Ponies are quite sensitive creatures..
And look at the comments that are allowed to slide on articles like the NPD group. I dunno if it's the way reporting works or what. I think it must depend partially on the number of reports or something because there's been some truly awful comments I've seen slide even after I've reported them before.
Gangsta_Red Exactly on all point.
Also, to set the record straight, I said thst Far Cry 5 is rated Z in Japan, just as God of War is. That means they are rated for people aged 18 or over, and in stores they are either on the top shelf or only available behind the counter. In short, adults only.
Just imagine where Call of Duty would be.. ..if only underage kids could get their hands on it..😉
Gow in second, with almost 50k in sales! Great job. Sony is doing very well in all markets in the world. Keep the games rolling.
Horizon a new ip sold more. Same thing happened in the UK and Europe. GOW only seems to do well in the US.
