6 Overhyped Games that dropped dead early after launch

Seems legit, first 2 weeks my friends list was full of people playing Sea of thieves, now, not a single person on my list is playing it. Destiny 2 lasted longer, but I never see anyone on it anymore. Same with Division.

Glad i played the beta for sea of thieves, beautiful looking game but a sea of repetitive boredom. I will never even entertain the idea of going near a destiny or division game ever.

I agree the writing there is in definite need of some help, but I'm a little confused by the "utterly stupid, barely-literate and poorly educated gamers" comment. How do you use this single site to represent all gamers? Do you count yourself among the "utterly stupid, barely-literate and poorly educated" given you are a gamer? I found that to be such a bizarre generalization to add to the end of your statement. Seemed out of place.

Perhaps he forgot to type journalism somewhere in that comment. Not sure about gamers being illiterate or poorly educated. In fact there's a whole lot of reading involved just to get through the tutorial of most games. So surely that has to account for something.

There are not many sites out there paying good journalists to write articles, as your revenue is based on clicks, sponsorship or having a big bank balance in the first place.

Most decent writers want paid for their work, and employees of sites tend to be happy enough of the odd review copy or freebie once in a while. It's tough work to get really good, literate and imaginitive writers these days if you're not handing over cash, so many settle for whatever.

I used to write for a site, but it wasn't paid. I also edited, but it wasn't worth the time, as sitting for longer than you can write an article, trying to edit someone else's gibberish was mindblowingly stressful.

There are also a lot of bloggers trying their luck that either don't have English as a first language, or semi-literate people that just have a love for gaming and want to write about it... No real harm, but basic English is becoming a lost language with the new education system that doesn't push language and correct usage as extremely important.

Playing Destiny 2 now and I think it's awesome. I'm not really an end game type of person so I'll just complete the main game and move on. The Division was okay at launch, but great now, still need to complete it.

Decent list! Forgot about most of these - The hype for No Man's Sky was incredible, and I was REALLY excited for The Division until I got a chance to play it at EGX prior to its release. Nothing like the marketing material.

overhyped is a huge problem. Studios try to get the players and then... Sometimes the reviews open your eyes, but the problem with that is that some studios dont lift the embargo until the launch of the game....

They used the excuses to try and hide the reality.

Those game are spot on. They should payback gamers for the lies they told.

Too many games vying for MP gamers. They are only as good as the next best thing being released, which is coming out,... now.
