Yuzo Koshiro is my favourite. He composed the music of some of my favourite games over the years.

Revenge of Shinobi
The Streets of Rage series

He even worked on the music for Shenmue 1 and 2.

When thinking about great game soundtracks, I always think about Splatterhouse 2 for Mega Drive. I never played another horror game that had music that set the horror feeling as well as that game.

Nope. There is no Japanese video composer better than Yasunori Mitsuda.
Of course Koji Kondo and Nobuo Uematsu comes close.
