All multiplatform games on Nintendo Switch are Like the Worst Way to Experience the games unless it's on another Nintendo system

Neonridr2631d ago (Edited 2631d ago )

"worst" is a pretty subjective term here though Jaguar. It's not like we can honestly say the game is not the same game with all the included content. Sure the visuals are lowered a bit to accomodate the hardware, but that doesn't stop the game from being good.

"when I was able to look past the performance issues (30fps instead of 60fps), I could see that the same great game was still found within."

DarkVoyager2631d ago (Edited 2631d ago )

“when I was able to look past the performance issues (30fps instead of 60fps), I could see that the same great game was still found within."

I heard the game runs somewhere between 25 and 30fps. That’s not good at all for a game that runs 60fps on all other platforms.

Neonridr2631d ago

@DarkVoyager - I will wait for an official analysis before I believe some random person saying they "heard".

but at the end of the day, 30fps is perfectly fine for me, if it means I get to take it anywhere I want. These are the concessions we have to make sadly. Anyone who expected a PS4 level of performance in a handheld that is 1/16th the size of it while having a 1080p display and a battery life that lasts for several hours would be expecting something that would cost several hundred dollars more than it costs now. That's just not technically feasible or cost effective.

DarkVoyager2630d ago

“I will wait for an official analysis before I believe some random person saying they "heard".

I agree. Will just have to wait for a Digital Foundry analysis.

IamTylerDurden12630d ago (Edited 2630d ago )

Machine games designed their Wolfenstein games to be played at 60fps, even the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of The New Order ran 1080/60. I can't imagine they ever expected the game to run at 30fps, so i doubt it feels the way it's supposed to on Switch. The gameplay and design choices were also built around the premise of 60fps. It's cool to have it on the go, but this is a stripped down version and i'm shocked Machine Games allowed their game to be comprised. They were always adamant about 60fps.

NXFather2629d ago

Switch specs have already been analyzed.

Xx_Pistol_xX2629d ago

Not if your talking from a performance standpoint.

mikeslemonade2629d ago

I’m tired of the switch apologist here. The system isn’t that good.

Neonridr2629d ago

@mikeslemonade - you don't own one, so don't act like you even have a voice here.

All console third party games are the worst way to experience them.

Get a PC and you’ll see what you can really do with these games.

Last_Boss2629d ago

Neir, Batman and a ton others say otherwise.

Heelix2629d ago

there are third party games that play best on consoles
because the PC port sucks and devs move on leaving the community to fix it themselves.

its not all rainbows and unicorn on PC

steamworld dig 2, and celeste are better experienced on the switch

NotoriousWhiz2629d ago

I know. Who could possibly want to play Wolfenstein on the go?

SuperSonic912629d ago

So its a tug of war between PS4, Xbox, PC, and Mobile Gaming pushing gaming technology forward to progress versus Nintendo holding games back by dumbing games down.

WoW!

Nintendo sure knows how to make money from their dumb market.

People should just get over the fact the switch is a portable...sorry but it is. It will be the worst way to experience all 3rd party games. Its just really really cool to be able to play them anywhere. That is where the switch shines. I've had mine hooked up the the TV twice since Christmas 17.

wonderfulmonkeyman2630d ago

I've had mine hooked up to the TV for 90% of my playtime with it, and it hasn't bothered me at all.
Some gamers these days seem to have forgotten that plenty of recent games on all systems have been running at 30 fps.
Recently ran across someone right here on this very board that swore up and down the PS3 had tons of 60FPS-locked games, in his attempts to degrade the Switch as an inferior platform.
Poor guy got shut down by someone pointing out, with proof, that many of the games he listed actually ran at 30 FPS.

Worst is extremely subjective here; if someone cares a great deal about graphics, then sure, but FPS-wise most of the Switch's games run solidly and stay at 30FPS minimum for most of the time they're played, with only occasional dips. [Korok Forest comes to mind]
Even games like Doom run pretty great, and it probably won't be any different with Wolfenstein. There have also been recent reports that it runs wonderfully, after all, to counter this article.

SR3882630d ago

Just games please, don't care for spex ... Seems "gamers" nowerdays only care FPS and all, don't play any games from before 2015 then lol

2630d ago
Adnanilyas212629d ago

I disagree with you any 3rd party game I would prefer on the switch especially if it's the same price
If I had a ps4 I would still buy Outlast on the switch why? Because I can play portable when my kids are sleeping I don't give a deep about 60fps or 30fps. That has never stopped me from buying a game

Tazzy2629d ago

I think the fact that your name is Doughhead proves that you have Dough in your head instead of a brain its a portable and also hooks up to your television with an HDMI cable.

FallenAngel19842631d ago

Isn’t that true for most multiplats on the system

You’re basically trading performance for the ability to play it portably

G3ng4r2629d ago

A fact that flies over the head of most.

EddieNX 2631d ago

It's portable so your comparing apples to oranges. As it stands the Switch is the only portable version and has no other portable version to compare it with. PC max settings is where you'll find the best performing version, not on consoles.

Shiken2630d ago

Yeah, these clickbait articles are getting real old, real fast. PS4 and X1 are full dedicated consoles, Switch is a Hybrid where the main draw is the ability to game seamlessly on the TV or on the go.

Gaming media has been on an all time low for a while now. I give up on thinking it will get better. Negativity gets clicks, so what else is there to expect?

Skuletor2629d ago

Gaming laptop? But that wouldn't fit in a pocket.

Prince_TFK2629d ago (Edited 2629d ago )

How small is a gaming laptop compared to the Switch? Unlike the Switch, the smaller the laptop, the weaker it is, and I doubt it can run Wolf2 properly. And a gaming laptop isn’t exactly the size of a Switch either. Not to mention the price of those gaming laptop compared to the Switch.

DashMad2629d ago

Laptop capable of playing this game at the same performance as switch version cost more than 500 dollar nowaday.

ZeekQuattro2630d ago

Unfortunately its one of those best games of 2017 people forgot to buy.

Wolfenstein 2 Proves That Jews Can be Heroes, Not Just Survivors

“Who is your hero?”
It’s a question that comes up during job interviews and college essay writing, and every time I’m asked, I always answer the same way: my grandmother. But I’ll never tell her that.

Ratchet752321d ago (Edited 2321d ago )

It's a video game, but I feel it s about time to forget this image of the guy in a pyjama with a David 🌟 and start to show the militant, philosophic and brave people they truly are.

I mean, it's a video game. It doesn't prove anything. But sure, Jews do pretty well in the world, they don't need their value reaffirmed by some game.

MegaKooter2320d ago

No kidding, Jews are like Super White people.

Absolute, sweet f-all, that’s what.

It means you get to make an article, pretty much the only thing it actually means regarding Nintendo.

Snakefist302356d ago

Means Nintendo won't get Destiny!

Bethesda says its games on Switch have been "hugely popular"

Bethesda has published a number of different games on Switch thus far, including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Doom, Wolfenstein II, and Fallout Shelter. The company isn’t stopping there having recently confirmed that Doom Eternal will be on the console. This time around, the Switch version will drop alongside other platforms.

I bought them all and they ended up being my favorite versions. Hope they can port Fallout 4 over...can't wait for doom eternal.

michellelynn09762496d ago

Fallout 4 would be epic for the Switch.

The 10th Rider2497d ago

Most third party developers have had nothing but good things to say about the sales of switch versions of their games. Much different than the Wii U days.

Sgt_Slaughter2497d ago

If the Wii U had been more like the Switch in terms of power and portability, things would have been so much better. Also not calling it a name with Wii in it.

Nebaku2496d ago

Eh, the supposed Wii name confusion thing was just something Nintendo's marketing division conjured up to try and cover the Wii U's failure. The "Super" NES had no trouble selling. The Gameboy "Advance" had no trouble Selling. The "3"DS sold extremely well (after a rocky start, due more to the 3d gimmick).

I'm not saying its name couldn't have been better, but it was hardly a factor. If the Xbox "One" can sell, so can anything.

Sgt_Slaughter2496d ago (Edited 2496d ago )

It was the biggest factor for it, it was so bad Target marketed it with the tablet on top of the old Wii when the Wii U was releasing.

Post E3 2011 when they announced it, so many news outlets and consumers were confused as all hell.

SNES after NES made sense and they made sure you knew the difference, and Xbox has been in every console name. Those two can't compare to the Wii/Wii U issue.

The 10th Rider2496d ago

@Sgt_Slaughter,

Eh, if Wii U sales had been better third party developers would have found ways to put their games on it. Remember it got Deus Ex, Mass Effect, Batman, Assassin's Creed, and more in its early days. Those developers were releasing on Wii U right out the gate because, like Nintendo, they were confident the success of the Wii would carry over. Switch is doing so much better and on top of that it's just such a convenient console to play, which really helps software sales.

@Nebaku,

You are correct that it wasn't just the name. But I think when the name is brought up it kind of encapsulates the idea that Nintendo was expecting success just because they were continuing with the Wii brand.

Kiknyonutz2497d ago

I’m sure they are but if you want any more of my business, you’ll have to patch them as well. Skyrim has had the sound glitch since release and to my knowledge, it’s still an ongoing issue. Not everyone is going to get these issues but for those of us that do, it ends the gameplay then and there.

jznrpg2497d ago

With the lack of games early on its no surprise, plus Bethesda games are not popular anyway

2496d ago
ZeekQuattro2496d ago

He's being a troll. Basically its the anytime something sells well on the switch its because there are no games argument. Also in typical troll fashion they tend to babble incoherently. Hence the Bethesda games not being popular part. Lol

gangsta_red2496d ago (Edited 2496d ago )

You threw me off there, well played sir

tehpees32496d ago

At this rate I'm convinced EA just don't want to put games on Switch because of some pride issue. The majority of third parties seem to be throwing ports on there and saying they are doing fine but what are they doing?

I suppose they think they'll look like fools begging Nintendo to take them back.

The 10th Rider2496d ago

Well, some games like Battlefield are pretty CPU heavy and really just wouldn't run on Switch. They really should be putting NHL and Madden on it though, along with all of their "indies" like Unravel and A Way Out. They also should look at putting things like the Sims and Mass Effect Trilogy. Battlefield Bad Company 2 with all the DLC and expansions should straight up be ported/remastered for all current consoles, including Switch.

2496d ago
King_Noctis2496d ago

To be honest I don’t want any of EA’s games near the Switch. Keep those MTs and lootboxes infestation away.
