What Comes After the Spyro and Crash Bandicoot Remake Trilogies?

Okay, Cool's Riley Little writes, "Spyro and Crash are back, but how do they stay relevant after their remakes?"

-Foxtrot2632d ago

I'm still hoping for a Crash Team Racing and Crash Bash bundle with online play but the two games share the online hub allowing you to choose a mini game battle or race on the fly

Would be nice if you can customize your character so at least when you have people picking the same character as you you'll be able to spot your character better on screen with your chosen style...mostly for Crash Bash really since everyone is in a small area at once.

Then Maybe Crash the Wrath of Cortex and Twinsanity afterwards as they wern't bad games, I thought Twinsanity had a pretty hilarious twist on the characters, especially Cortex.

After that I'm hoping they learn enough and do Crash 4 and Spyro 4...true successors to the original PS1 trilogies and inbetween that Crash Team Racing 2.

This is actually great idea with online!

Are you kidding me? Making new AAA $59.99 installments of these games is out of the question, these remakes are nice tributes to these classic gems, but that's all. These franchises are way past their time.

Maybe next should be Gex or Jersey Devil. Aren't they remaking Medieval also?

agamer12632d ago

While I kinda would like some customization, do I really want Activision to have an excuse to put loot boxes or microtransactions in a Crash game? Hell no!

zodiac9092632d ago (Edited 2632d ago )

YOOO CRASH BASH ONLINE WOULD BE AMAZING! If done properly it might even shame Mario Party 10. But seriously Crash Team Racing Online is my dream come true. <3
AND DAMN you Foxtrot for making me agree with you so often..<3

Newmanator2631d ago

CTR Online would be pure crack. Assuming they keep the control feel the same!

FallenAngel19842632d ago

Most logical thing is for them to make new games in the franchises, just like how Sanzaru games made Sly 4 after releasing Sly Collection or how Christian Whitehead helped make Sonic Mania after releasing ports of Sonic 1, Sonic 2, & Sonic CD.

thatguyhayat2632d ago

Hope it motivates Sony to remake legend of dragoon or other PS1 titles. Maybe Xbox can join the nostalgia

FallenAngel19842632d ago

Sony already does remakes and remasters of their old catalogue

Idk how these specific games would change anything with them

Microsoft in particular already has backwards compatibility so they’re less likely to make remakes and remasters

FinalFantasyFanatic2631d ago

I wouldn't mind more psone classics, there's still plenty of great classics missing.

KiRBY30002631d ago (Edited 2631d ago )

Sony has never done a remake of a PS1 era title, which is the topic here. If they had a studio dedicated to recreate some gems from that time, they would have so many game to choose from. The PS1 catalog is a gold mine.

Medievil is Sony's 1st remake of a PS1 game.

List of PS1 era remake (released or announced):
Crash Trilogy
Spyro Trilogy
Resident Evil (originally remade for the gamecube)
Resident Evil 2 (announced)
FFVII Remake
Tomb Raider Anniversary (weak remake IMO, I could use a new one)

Am I missing some?

Now, we need:
Legend of Dragoon
FF8 / FF9 / Chrono Cross
Vagrant Story
Parasite Eve 1 & 2
Front Mission 3 & 4
Metal Gear Solid 1
Silent Hill 1
Resident Evil 3
Tenchu 1 & 2
Dino Crisis
Syphon Filter Trilogy
Ape Escape
Ace Combat Trilogy
Wipeout Trilogy
Klonoa
Kula World

FallenAngel19842631d ago

@ Final

Good thing there are a lot on PSN

@ Kirby

Yes they have. Sony has already released remakes of Ape Escape, Wild Arms, & Medievil.

Pancit_Canton2632d ago

Medievil is coming.

I would like to see..

Ape Escape or Jumping Flash 2

Araragifeels 2632d ago

A Syphon Filter remake from scratch would be awesome.

Nothing but joy and excellency for us on Gamepass!

Top of the line remake from 2018 you could have picked up for under 5 bucks.

I'm serious though games awesome and was a highlight in a very packed year but let's not overstate it's value 6 years on.

Lightning77225d ago

I wonder why they're doing slow roll out of ABK stuff? It's been a year I wonder why the slow roll out.

Fishy Fingers225d ago

I'm sure it'll slowly get added. Its constant content they can add and I imagine in the hopes it will get people to maintain their sub. Drop it all in one chunk might boost numbers for a bit but unlikely to keep people long term.

Lightning77225d ago

Similar to Bethesda stuff. They release the full slate on GP and I guess it didn't do as well for them. I'm hoping they're remastering the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games as well as others.

InUrFoxHole225d ago

Never played the series. Gonna give it a go. GP is a great service.

The_Hooligan224d ago

I played the original trilogy on my cousin's PS1 back in the day and they were amazing games. I picked up the remake last year when it was on sale on PSN but haven't gone back yet. But if this is your first time playing it, you will have a great time.

InUrFoxHole223d ago

Jesus. I remember the ps1. I remember being baffled by how something so powerful could fit in that little console lol

DivineHand125225d ago (Edited 225d ago )

Good for persons who are subscribed to the game pass, but will it be 30 fps, or is it getting a boost?

I bought the game on PS4 but stopped because the game offered little to no challenge. I dropped it and picked it up again on PS5 a few months ago. That was when I realized that it was locked to 30 fps and uninstalled it.

It would be great if Microsoft could find some way to release an update to set both Spyro and Crash Team racing to 60 fps and beyond.

Profchaos225d ago (Edited 225d ago )

It seems unlikely that it would get further enhancements at this stage a 2018 release that was already enhanced for the one X native 4k from memory. Also the animation work and motion blur used did slot to make the 30fos gameplay feel responsive and smooth to its credit compared to other 30fps games with significantly worse input lag like yooka laylee which iirc on PS4 pro felt horrible to play with a control delay vs the PC which felt snappy.

If you stopped because of the lack of challenge I don't think 60 will suddenly change the way you play it games extremely simple and was built around a early 3d exploration framework that targeted families so difficulty was quite low

Profchaos225d ago

Hasn't this been on gamepass for a while now

Nsane numbers. Can we not get a current patch for the trilogy and CTR 60fps and/or 4K? And might as well release a PC port for NF while you're at it, make it happen!

I’m waiting for a dead or alive article to pop up myself

It was the other day I was thinking of picking up crash team racing because I like kart racers like Mario kart and Team Sonic Racing, but I was shocked to find out that Crash team racing is still 30 fps.
