PS4 vs Xbox One vs Switch Global Lifetime Sales – February 2018

During the month of February 2018, the PS4 outsold the Switch by 338,258 units for the month and the Xbox One by 691,313 units. The Switch outsold the Xbox One by 353,055 units.

When you compare monthly sales to a year ago, the Xbox One is up and the PlayStation 4 is down. The PlayStation 4 is down 92,094 units and the Xbox One is up 144,358 units.

Taking a look at the marketshare, the PlayStation 4 managed to achieve 46 percent. The Nintendo Switch accounted for 34 percent of the consoles sold, and the Xbox One 20 percent.

The ps4 is quite a popular console and very successful because of it. Well deserved since Its The only console that releases amazing games and compelling exclusive titles like horizon zero dawn, God of war 4, days gone, the last of us 2, Detroit , gt 7 and a lot other games.

I like sea of thieves but it lacks content and it's on pc just like all Xbox one games so my Xbox doesn't get used. The switch is mainly for children and I don't know of when it'll have anything I'm interested in as an adult. Only thing I know of interest coming is metroid but that might be next year.

Because based on your logic you should be boycotting using and 4G you should be boycotting buying really any game system I don't really know how much you could really Buy in regards to something only made in America to be honest with you.

Even the label made in America is deceiving trust me as a person that actually runs a business when you are actually purchase something from foreign countries and you intend to resell it in America the only way you could sell it without actually putting the label of the other country is if the multiple Parts assemble something you created.

ie if you buy all the individual parts of a desk from China and assemble the desk you could repackage it in post American-made whereas you cannot buy an entire desk from China and then try to resell it as American made...

This actually means you won't really know we are lots the things you buy are really made from. So I want you to randomly go to Walmart where the clothes are and just pick anything up without even looking and look at the back of the tag chances are it's going to say China or Taiwan or South Korea...

I would expect Sony to announce 80 million PS4s sold in the next couple months. The exclusives are really heating up with Ni No Kuni, MLB, Yakuza, God of War, and Detroit.

The thing about “buying American” is that the mentality that got us (the U.S.) to be the most prosperous nation was the opposite of that nativist mentality. We buy the best so we demand the best and its that mentality that allows us to be the epitome of industry.

PS4 will jump from 10th best to 6th best selling console of all time by year's end passing its predecessor PS3 (alongwith 360, GBA, PSP all 80m - 86m). In 2019 it'll take the 4th spot. 2020 should be the release the PS5 and also where it takes the 3rd spot. It'll be interesting to see how well it continues to sell, but I think 3rd place is will PS4 will settle.

Xbox One will be stuck in 14th for 2018. It should pass the SNES and take the 13th spot in 2019 (50m sold). But if the XB4 comes out in 2020, it'll have a hard time beating the NES for the 12th spot at 62m sold.

Switch is off to a killer start. It already passed Wii U putting Switch at 21st. However, if sales keep the same momentum Switch should be sitting comfortably as the 16th or 15th best selling console of all time passing the Sega Genesis or N64. 2019 will be a very interesting year with Pokemon, a potential slim / price drop, and other huge games likely releasing and sending Switch sales skyrocketing. The Switch has a real chance of outselling the SNES and hitting 50m sold taking the 14th spot, but will it also be able to outsell the XBO and knock it down from 13th to 14th? I don't think so but,..... 2020 The Switch will knock the XBO and NES down as it takes the spot for 12th best selling console of all time and closes in on the 3DS, and as a result XBO will at best reach 13th if overtime into 2021 it surpasses the NES.

PS4: 3rd best selling consoles of all time +130m
XBO: 13th best selling consoles of all time 65m
Switch: On track for +100m (my guess would be GB <=> Switch > PS1 > Wii)

I highly doubt that XB1 is over 36 million units. I'd estimate around 30 million tops. I honestly don't expect XB1 to hit much more than 50 million lifetime. The XB1 numbers are not known because Microsoft refuses to share them.

Both Nioh and Horizon released in February 2017. I'm assuming that is the reason numbers were slightly higher than 2018.

I imagine April and May should be huge months for PS4.

Um over 76 million PS4s sold in 4 and a half years Xbox sales have dropped in a big way from the 360 sales and the Switch passed the Wii U sales. If any company had a big turn around its Nintendo they're 20 million less than what Xbox One sales are in just a year not to mention just how well is the Xbox One X been selling I know I haven't seen their numbers.

No they aren't. Xbox has not won a single month in worldwide sales and they continue to be 3rd every month. Even if numbers are up slightly they are not drastic and certainly do not signify a huge turnaround. So many people expected a giant comeback this gen and even with an unprecedented hugely promoted console launch (the X) Xbox is still firmly in 3rd. There has not been any huge fluctuation in the numbers this gen.

Major retailers show their numbers and they estimate total sales. It is not an accurate but well approximated result.

Vgchartz a guessing website, buy when Sony and Nintendo give their official numbers they go back to edit the numbers so it can be accurate, so at times they would overestimate and other times underestimate. Only way to get accurate numbers is from the companies or NPD or Mediacreate reports

If you go back to when the Wii was winning, no one on here wanted to believe VGChartz numbers, but now that ps4 winning the website became their favorite again.

We will never know Microsoft real numbers but we all know it must be between 20 to 50 million

They could of done better if they tried to get the games out more. I think outside the hardcore, most have forgotten, or never knew what caused their early troubles. For the most part, Sony is just out performing, and out marketing MS. Nintendo was kind of out of left field, but it was a brilliant move to make a hybrid to consolidate their user base, and make it so they only have to support one console.

By the end of 2018 PS4 should surpass PS3 in sales. The PS4 numbers have been beastly. PS4 will clear 120 million easy. I expect PS4 to outsell the enormously successful OG PlayStation, but fall short of PS2 numbers simply because the gen won't last long enough.

PS4 came out in 2013
PS5 probably out in 2020, so PS4 will be supported till 2024
