Cultured Vultures: We’ve taken into account every monkey, every eye patch and every undead pirate, so without further ado, here are the Monkey Island games across the franchise’s history ranked from worst to best.
Relive the golden age of gaming with these timeless video games. From Wind Waker to Monkey Island, get ready for a nostalgia-filled ride.
I'd put Street Fighter 2 over 3. 2 and all its different versions dominated the arcade scene back in the day in a way that 3 never did.
Ms Pacman?
Robotron?
SSF2 Turbo over 3 simply by the 10000000000's ports of the game we're still having
Castlevania SOTN?
Zelda Link to the Past over Wind Waker
Super Mario Bros 3?
Chrono Trigger?
Resident evil4?
COD MW2 (the original)?
Uncharted 2
Metal Gear Solid?
Here's my reasoning for all of them versus the list proposed in the article.
They are still quite enjoyable from start to finish on their original platform, unlike some Wind Waker or Okami that are fun when you play the remastered version (unless you call: forced to watch a 20-minute cutscene or have to blow for wind chance constantly fun).
Some of them are the pinnacle of what the console could do (MGS, Chrono, MGS)
Lots of them are still considered the go-to-go game for their genre.

No game made me feel more like a pirate than Assassin's Creed Black Flag
Oh stop it already with the attack on sea of thieves, plain obvious it was pointed towards that.
Sea of thieves is actually good and in time could be great, but that's it now, that's what games are releasing like more and more so developers are not so worked over all while making the most money they can, but SoT is not the only game to do that but people are going as if it is.
That being said one pirate game I am looking forward to is that Ubisoft one that takes the pirate ship combat from black flag and turns it into a full game.
In my eyes a real good pirate game need to be done where full pirate crews can man full ships which each ship can man big crews and everyone would sign to a role on the ship to earn a living and they would have to stick to it:
Roles could include captain rite down to the chef on boaord a ship who has to cook for the crew. My vision is a real pirate simulation, open world with thousands on a server at a time and the ability to customise your avatars with the option to work on the islands, go to sea or even be apart of a country trying to hunt pirates and stop piracy all together. Where jobs on islands exist ie working in a brothel, chopping wood to build ships, and ship designing being in charge of a pirate island treasury to where you would pay your islanders for work done even being in charge of the fort or being a Cannon loader to being a defensive repairs guy.
I wish I had the funding and team, I would create a pirates dream.
It is seriously frightening the numbers of things calling themselves intelligent humans that have absolutely no ability to think for themselves. They seem to spread like a virus and continue to be almost completely void of any sort of rational thinking.
And the two that came before it. I also highly recommend the episodic ones as well.
I love the Monkey Island franchise and I'm currently doing a play through of all of them.
Keep your 2d click adventure monkey island. Sea of thieves has provided some of the freshest and enjoyable gaming moments than any new game I’ve played. I’ll keep playing that with my friends thanks
