Disagree,

C64 has no decent exclusives, Spectrum 48k has way more,
The enhanced remake of Horace goes skiing is gonna kill any game available on the C60'bore,

Plus the "Beast" Spectrum +2 has a 3.5 MHz CPU and 128 KB of Memory.

;)

The C64 helped me survive during the video game crash. We had two games. Donkey Kong and Qbert. I played those for a few years over and over again until I got a Sega Master System in 87.

@Orion

My first computer was a ZX Spectrum 48k with rubber keys given to me by my older sister when she went to off to university.

I had hundreds of games for it, some I got off magazine covers, others I programmed myself using guides in the mags (this took an age) others I pirated from friends using my dads tape to tape stereo...

One day my old faithful gave up the ghost so I asked for a +2 or +3 for my birthday, I waited patiently for the big day to arrive but on the day of the race found that my mum had actually bought me a C64 !!

Not one to be ungrateful I kept the new machine, I'm glad I did the upgrade in colour was a massive boost and the C64 came with its own tape player which was far better than the one I'd been using on the 48k , I also got a Competition Pro joystick off my nan :)

I also remember playing Qbert, what a game! I remember those days fondly as a bit of a Golden age of gaming, The UK gaming scene was in full swing and talented programmers were doing wonders with the little hardware resources available to them.

It’s definitely an upgrade, not sure about massive.

Grilla6m ago

It is massive compared to the switch 1. 6-10X the power, but compared to current standards it’s the bare minimum.

As someone who has been gaming nearly as long as gaming has been around (since the early 70's), you'd think I'd be against this. Having grown up with all the major platforms and the whole notion of physical ownership... but I'm not. i embrace this as it is a revolutionary convenience. And one i know for a fact many (especially here) have not even given the fair chance to use. I get it... i was there too. But now i have a new outlook on it. It really is a hell of an option if you just want to play with no commitments. By no means am i saying this should replace traditional gaming, its an option. And one that people should look at optimistically as a way to compliment traditional gaming. There is room for both to thrive.
