I actually enjoy Mighty No. 9, but people who helped fund the game didn't get the product they were looking for. There's always a risk, but when a studio gets $4 million to develop a game, one might expect it to look the way it was originally meant to.
There are also questions raised about how it was developed. Inafune had multiple projects at the same time and some believe he used some of this money to fund those projects as well. That may be the reason why the interpretor said this game was 'better than nothing'. It could have been said because the development was not going well or maybe most of the funding was going to another project and they were shorthanded on this game. Who knows...
