DayZ Runs at 1080P@50/60 on Xbox One X, Will Support 4K@30; Crossplay with PC Is 'Unlikely'

Bohemia Interactive is showcasing DayZ for Xbox One at GDC 2018 and confirmed via Twitter that it runs at 1080p@50/60 on Xbox One X, with plans to also support a 4K@30 mode. Crossplay would be technically possible but is unlikely as they don't want to create imbalanced gameplay.

Finally, news about the PS4 version is coming soon.

DayZ isn't an arcade game like Fortnite and PUBG. It requires a lot of precision in aiming and a gamepad would be at a massive disadvantage compared to a mouse + kb.

It's a pretty common thing in DayZ to have to shoot at someone 500m away using only iron sights, and all you can see of the character you're shooting at is about 5 pixels

I use contoller on pc alot and have little problems the days of this nonsense of kb+mouse have way better advantage has been narrowed down from the old days.

Depends on the game you play.

I use a controller on PC with dark souls because it is way better than kb+m for this type of game. And I use a kb+m in CS:GO because it is way better than a controller for this type of game

PUBG is almost the same as dayz but it uses the arm engine which is the real mil-sim

Let's just say PUBG is way more arcade than DayZ, and Fortnite is way more arcade than PUBG

DayZ is one of the least "accessible" games ever. You can easily walk for 3 hours straight without ever firing your gun or seeing anyone, and then out of nowhere someone shoots you from 1 Km away. And then you die instantly and the last 3 hours of your life were all for nothing. Aiming and ballistics are also much more punishing in DayZ.

This is why I say PUBG is arcade when compared to DayZ

I have to laugh when people class PUBG as arcade along side fortnight Come on it’s the opposite fortnight is another story. PUBG is filled with long range shooting it has bullet drop travel hit detection etc how is that arcade lol iv played dayz and it’s akward as hell at times a lot of there mechanics wouldn’t work on a competitive multiplayer game like PUBG am your aiming has to be precise in pubg aswell 2x 8x 15x scopes even the marking on the scopes reference to 2 4 and 600 meters you have to work out how far your target is adjust the zeroing of your scope then work out how far or near you need to aim for the bullet to hit you can’t get more realistic or technical than that when it comes to aiming and precision the team spent time getting as close to realism as possible. Fortnight is point and shoot simple as that but even though I don’t like fortnight the shooting mechanics of PUBG or day z wouldn’t work on that type of game because you can’t afford to take your time and work out distances it’s fast reactive arcade style gameplay and I just don’t like that. If they get dayz right it could be great but the game I played was a mess

Not even worth playing in 4K anyhow. The game looks very outdated on PC in 4K. Is the PC version still in alpha state?

Yes it is, I played the beta version at Gamescom last year and it was a big step up from what we currently have but they are certainly taking their time delivering it.

Back when DayZ (mod version) was still quite new it had me and my friends hooked. We spent hours foraging because back then there was a lot more players and a lot more PVP and it was fun to play. As each new version came out it added more and then branches of the mod appeared, Epoch etc. and it became huge. We would spend hours scavenging, finding vehicles to stash weapons and supplies and then putting them somewhere hidden and giving team mates co-ordinates to find the, doing high risk runs into zombie invested military bases and raiding other peoples bases. Then they announced it was going standalone and we all got very excited to see what DayZ could become with support from Bohemia. What we got was Dean Hall's vision of a walking simulator

He ripped most of what was good about DayZ out, took away a lot of weapons, made them very rare, you had to pick up bits and craft a weapon together, he became obsessed with tweaking the UI which admittedly was not intuitive to the newcomer in the ARMA series but it worked ok, he obsessed with clothing and character customisation and soon there were more variants of hats than weapons and we got proud developer video's showing players tying bloody shoelaces instead of giving us the core DayZ experience in a standalone game. All that time obsessing over the UI and different coloured socks and they never fixed the things we hoped they would with direct support from Bohemia like the poor zombie animation, their ability to hear and see you from miles away using their super zombie decrepit ears and eyes, to be able to sprint like an Olympian with their rotten zombie legs.

This went on for years before he finally left and now all these years later we're left with a poor shell of what the game should be. You're better off playing the mod versions. Even in its heyday as a mod this was not a pick up and play for half an hour type of game, the scale of the game and the map demands more time and I can't see many people wanting to play a walking game

Where's the offline mode they promised like a hundred years ago? Oh wait, that doesn't require Gold or Playstation + so we won't bother. Thanks for another game I won't be buying. Stick to PC mods.

It sucks that all the similar games to come out after DayZ completely overshadowed it. This is the one I wanted to get polished so I could enjoy it. I really liked trying to survive as long as I could with all the zombies and players hunting me down.
