A mummified southerner blasts his way through three unique pyramids in this roguelike first person shooter. Find out if the gun-slinging is worthwhile with Matthew Owen's review from a 90s Kid.
Erickson: Of all the people in the world to mummify, the gods of Egypt choose a Redneck tourist to bring back from the dead. Why? No one knows. And that’s reason enough to storm their pyramids and beat the ever-loving life out of every monster that gets in the way.
Benjamin Guy Writes - If you know me well, you’ll know I’m a bit of a fan of ancient history, particularly the Ancient Egyptian and Norse eras. Whilst it’s been heartening to see those eras visited recently by Assassins Creed and God of War respectively, it’s a shame there isn’t more use of those wonderful mythologies in games.
+ fun rogue-like mechanics
+ enemy and weapon variety
+ very bright visuals
+ skill tree, power ups and buffs and god alignment abilities
– can be quite challenging
– and vexing when you have a good run but have to start at the base of the pyramid aka rogue-lite is as rogue-lite does
Immortal Redneck is a fantastic game, I'm having a blast with it. A lot like the original Serious Sam games, but with some great new elements (scrolls, skill tree, many different weapons). I have it on PS4 and it runs great. II'll probably get it for XB1 too.
