Is it just me, or does everything sound more badass in Japanese?

I played the original Metal Gear Solid as a Japanese import and I swear Snake sounds better in Japanese too, I had no clue what was being said in the game, but I did miss the original voice overs when I eventually played the western release.

AspiringProGenji2633d ago (Edited 2633d ago )

Everything in Japanese sounds badass except Dragon Ball

Wasabi2633d ago (Edited 2633d ago )

@Genji

Haha yes :)

TheRealHeisenberg2633d ago

I happen to prefer the Japanese voiceovers in Dragonball. Makes it way more epic imo.

Critic4l_Strik32633d ago

I started liking Dragon Ball voice overs after watching Super...idk why

Kaiou2633d ago

lol perfect , so true

trooper_2633d ago

Aww, come on you don't like the Frieza/Goku granny voice? :D

just you and your girlie nerd voice

Skuletor2633d ago

I'm looking forward to the upcoming Batman Ninja anime movie coming out 4 days after God of War releases. The Japanese version sounds surprisingly good. https://www.youtube.com/wat...

I don't mind Kratos' voice in this, but that high pitch kids Japanese squeak voice was ringing my ears. I wouldn't be able to handle that long.

rainslacker2632d ago

It's just psychological. They tend to emote more in their voice when voice acting. Since we aren't used to it in English, it sounds better to the ear. However, if you know Japanese, or have a cursory knowledge of it, you'd actually notice that there are just as many bad Japanese VA's as there are English ones. Japan was much further along with having skilled voice actors compared to the western world though, not nowadays, there are plenty of great English VA's in the business.

Maybe some hinting that he'll be taking on the legendary God's of the rising sun after he disbatches the Norse God's?!

KwietStorm_BLM2633d ago

Or just that they speak Japanese in Japan.

CobraKai2633d ago

Oh man. Dual katana blades of chaos! That’s too epic.

DankSinatra2633d ago (Edited 2633d ago )

I just don't hear it.

Elda2633d ago

I still like the original American voice of Kratos, which was voiced by TC Carson.

UCForce2633d ago (Edited 2633d ago )

Yeah, I agree. But Christopher Judge is great, too. And I do hope there is stargate reference in new GOW like he saying “Indeed”.

UCForce2633d ago

For disagreeing with my statement, I have huge respect to TC Carson and his performance as Kratos. It’s a disappointment to see him for not playing Kratos again. Christopher Judge is good actor, too. Yes, we have to wait and see. I’m not saying Teal’c like Kratos. Teal’c is serious, respectful and honorable unlike Kratos. But when come to their enemies, they both can be threatened and kill with no mercy.

rainslacker2632d ago

He was pretty good. Christopher Judge is a really good actor though. I think he can pull off the role, since he's already proven he can do the stoic bad-ass, and while not known for it, can do the gentle touchy-feely stuff with great skill. Most people know him from Stargate, but even in that, he had his moments of greatness. Plus, if you've ever seen his natural character, you'd realize just how much he acts when he does anything.

Ex-PlayStation Boss Shuhei Yoshida Pushed for God of War Reboot Delay

Former PlayStation Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida saw God of War as a "problem" when he first played it, and advocated for its delay.

gold_drake48d ago

yea, its also mentioned in the documentary they did about it.

isarai47d ago

Ye, it just wasn't up to their standards, nothing wrong with that imo

Goodguy0147d ago

And it became one of my most favorite games of all time and I still like it more than the sequel.

goken47d ago

Well if a game/movie/project needs fixing, especially something with the legacy that god of war does. Delay and fix it, don’t ruin the legacy by releasing crap.

Babadook747d ago

Way to go.

Like Miyamoto famously said.

“A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”

Where's the remaster/port of the Greek Saga?

micdagoat1963d ago

On PS3? they "remaster" games that are barely 5 years old. We can't even play the ones from PS3 natively right now on a PS5

micdagoat1963d ago

Sony has been so quiet about that its annoying. I have no idea why they wouldn't

spicelicka63d ago

As much as I love the new God of war saga, I really miss the scale and epic set pieces of the OG games :/

SonyStyled62d ago

Thank you Mr. Jaffe. Few franchises stay relevant for 20 years. Thank you Stig, and Corey too
