Why the two consoles performed so differently over 12 months.
Two diferent consoles the wii U was a full fledged home console and the Swicth its a hybrid. Nintendo went where they were always a titãn, the portable market. They skip the power fight between the PS4 and the Xbox One. People dont care of the rez, AA, frames and so on when talking about nintendo games, like on both Sony and Microsoft machines. Its like a diferent universe in videogaming. Beside, they Got zelda from the Wii U and a Mario in the same Year! Their biggest IPs of Nintendo.
They did so much right in their first year. 2018 could be epic too. If so, the Switch will solidify itself as one of the greatest consoles of all time.
I think the Wii U will become like the Dreamcast in terms of legacy. A console that never reached its full potential, but has a vast library of titles that are highly replayable. Plus the off-TV play was the first of it's kind, the way it was implemented I mean, something that didn't quite catch on as they would have liked (yes Remote Play exists but that's slightly different). The Switch is Wii U 2.0 and that's what I love about it. Took the negatives and polished them out, came out of the game strong, and my god the marketing campaign was vastly better than whatever Wii U tried to do.
The dreamcast has a lot of solid titles that only exist on the dreamcast. By the end of next year, you can bet that almost all of the Wii U's quality exclusives will be on the Switch.
The switch is a handheld device not a console.
Yet it plays console quality games? It's a hybrid console. Understand the difference.
"Yet it plays console quality games?" Not at the quality levels of the real home consoles, so not really. It's a handheld with the ability to connect to the TV, not a big deal.
It has console power in a handheld with a TV feature. Disagree all you want, facts are facts. Enjoy the handheld.
Then how did play it on a big screen TV? I must have been dreaming.
It's a console, that happens to have portability. People need to stop trying to force a new label on the system when it clearly is a console.
