Rare: There's No Other Game Like Sea of Thieves;We Embraced Powerlevelling & May Add Painting Canvas

Rare's Design Director Mike Chapman said that there's no other game like Sea of Thieves. While designing the game they've embraced power-leveling, for instance, since first-time players can team up with Pirate Legends. Chapman also teased the possible addition of a new feature: painting canvas.

they said it’ll always be on gamepass. i don’t believe they are going to remove FP Exclusives from gamepass.
Sales numbers will definitely be hurt by gamepass, but that goes back to MS and their MAU numbers being greater then sales. It almost feels like they have been setting up for this service all gen

The combat is the only thing that is lacking but once again sailing with your friends on a pirate ship looking for treasure seems very fun. I am also curious to see how often human players will be able to intercept you and your treasure. I would get annoyed if it happens every single time because that won't be fun.

They should add the ability to shoot holes in sails to slow down ships. Or the ability to destroy masts.Different types of cannon ammo (grapeshot for example).

The point of the game is to sail with friends and find treasure... When you realize the treasure is nothing special and finding it is easy and repetitive, you'll see a bunch of people stop playing it... I might be wrong, but they've shown the game for years and still nothing has come out that makes the entire gaming world seem to care about it... (only ones who seem to care about it have some weird fetish for Microsoft)

Games like this need content updates to keep things fresh, and if they manage that, then people will continue playing even if the treasure is meaningless in the end.

Repetative has never stopped most successful MP games from being successful, because usually they're repetative as well. The exciting stuff is the leveling which gives bragging rights. Stuff like that can be addictive to some people.

All I know is that if my friends were like the one's they showed at that E3 showing a couple years ago, then I'd probably quit playing within 5 minutes. Luckily, I'd imagine most people's friends aren't that annoying.

If what i played of the game is anything to go by, you could compare it to no mans sky, which i heard you can also travel about for ages without seeing anyone else. Lets hope retail has a more populated mode.

Played every beta and scale test. The longest I been without spotting other players is maybe 30 mins. I can say when I have 10 chest on my ship I pray I don’t see anyone lol. And no mans sky was a worthless lie.

I really hope this game does well and gets the praise it deserves. Been following it since the alpha and they have made some great progress in the game. Here's hoping for some great post launch content and this may be one of those games i sink 100s of hours onto. Had so much fun in the beta and scale tests so many stories were made with my friends and I, there's something special about this game. One day you can be the pirates that go around attacking other people's ships and stealing their gold the next day you can be on a 16 man party boat just joking around with the people in your world.
