PS4 Exclusive Dreams May Potentially Allow Players To Create And Sell PSN Games

Media Molecule has been a pioneer of user generated content on console games for a very long time now- long before Minecraft and Super Mario Maker, LittleBigPlanet was allowing users to create their own platformer levels.

This is a console game that could allow paid user levels, its not on PC. Very few games will allow this, it will not spread like it would on PC.

Once was free user created content, will now become paid user created content. Media Molecule was smart and just created a way for users to make levels for them and take a percentage of whatever they end up selling that level for.

Smart move, crappy because now we have to pay for the only user created levels that are any good, but smart business move by MM

Obviously you dont know the history behind MM.

They already hired 1 or more creators from LBP who created in the past so creating levels can get you a job.
MM is making a game about creating levels, they are not just gonna charge for any user created level or anything. What might happen is that they see your level and love/like it. They hit you up for a little chat and if you agree to the terms they give u (needs to be polished, no vulgar languagea, add more of this and more of that etc etc) they might sell it for you and you gain a % of the revenue. They are not just gonna take a user created level/game and put it out for money so they can profit of it.

There will still be amazing user created content and most of it will be free. If you played any of their past games you would know. It is known! ;)

From what it sounded like they were just going to start charging for the best levels. but if they are actually partnering up with the person because they see potential, then that is great. My question is how much are these "premium" user created levels and how often will it happen?

Think it greatly depends on how popular the game is when talking about the frequency.
I really wouldnt know how much it will cost, its similar to lbp in that u can make games in the game and its about user created content, but I have no clue on what scope these levels are gonna be.

Their previous dlc wasnt that pricey and most dlc consisted of new tools to build levels and outfits for the characters (cloud, nariko etc) but you could still play levels made with tools you dont own.

It's not like this is the first game to offer user created content... Most of these kind of "build your own game" games just offer all user created content for free. Regardless if they're awesome or not.

But the idea of teaming up with the good creators to make a completely new PSN game is a cool idea, but I wonder how that will pan out.

This game was shown at the very first Ps4 event....5yrs ago and the damn thing still isn't out. Reminds me of the fighter maker and rpg maker "games" from Ps1 and Pc.

If you create a level that is so origional, why can't you make money? If you made it for free and now mm wants to pay you, why complain at all? From a buyers standpoint, it's my choice to spend the money how I see fit. It's not any ones business how people spend their money.

Of course Sony and MM gets their good slice of the coin, Playstation 4 owners will stand for this as well. Oh yes what a horrid practice, to charge for use map settings content when no one else does, Sounds right up the ally of our good friends the PS4 userbase. Those High DLC/microtransaction purchase rates aren'tjust for show after all.

Or maybe i'm wrong, maybe the PS4 userbase will finally show their quality.

It's good that MM will approach their content creators if they do good work. That guarantees that the people who can earn money from this deserve it. Unlike Steam Greenlight where you would get thousands of crappy asset flip games for a quick cash grab.
