Age of Empires is a classic in the genre of strategy games. 21 years after the original game's release, its being remastered. How does this at-the-time revolutionary game hold up decades later?
Cons Gratuitous micromanagement adds nothing to the game. AI is ridiculously aggressive and makes diplomacy impossible. Poor controls make difficult micromanagement worse than it already was. Pacing makes the game a hectic chore. So... minus poor controls (which I'm sad to hear they didn't update) the cons are things that fans of the series like?
I know right? The game was all about the micro-management, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Also, of course it is supposed to hectic - it's practically total war in each of those battles!
I've been playing Age of Empires 1 the original lately and it holds up well. Sometimes I don't want to get zerg rushed 3 minutes into a game. I like planning things out and it taking a bit of time. Yea I can play competitively as well, but AOE is a great game to kind of choose your own pace. I don't know about this remake....I haven't played it as I don't have Windows 10....I'll get it on my next PC. I still like the look of the original better. It's more colorful and the sprite art has more character.
Sounds like they should of included the worker AI from Age of Empires 2.
Cool, now bring it to the xbox. Along with rise of nations 😁
