THQ Nordic just bought Metro Exodus and Saints Row publisher Koch Media for €121 Million

THQ went bankrupt, its properties were sold off and the legacy of that company was buried. Until a new successor rose from its ashes that is. Having acquired numerous video game licenses, Nordic Entertainment rebranded itself as THQ Nordic back in 2016, building a new company that featured plenty of hits from the past and new titles with which to create a legacy of success. That legacy may have just come full circle, as THQ Nordic has closed a deal to acquire Koch Media.

That's really surprising especially considering THQ went bankrupt a few years ago. Let's hope THQ Nordic doesn't follow the same path. They now have two of my most anticipated games of 2018 under their belt. Darksiders 3 and Metro Exodus. Lets just they don't cram them at the end of the year where the big hitters like the usual Cod/battlefield are released.

UltraNova2354d ago (Edited 2354d ago )

121 mil only? Wow thats a steal if I ever saw one!
Is Darksiders 3 slated for 2018?

DarkOcelet2354d ago

Yeah, the 2018 release date was announced back in its first trailer :)

Great then! I've been playing Darksiders 2 (thanks to ps plus) lately and I have to admit that I was missing...the game is very fun. Definitely made a fan out of me.

dirkdady2354d ago

How is that a steal aren't they just the publisher of those games as they are developed by other independent studios? I suppose there would be nothing to stop those devs from moving to a different publisher for their next projects.

Nordic bought THQ. THQ was run by fools, so many craptacular titles from them. Nordic on the other hands I see slowly building it back up, Darsiders 3 should be great, I'm so glad the series didn't die along with THQ.

UCForce2354d ago

I just hope THQ Nordic treat their IP respectfully.

_-EDMIX-_2354d ago

Agreed this is a solid acquisition.

Congrats to them!

Nordic bought out THQ and rebranded their named mixed with it. Different company basically, but yea hopefully they don't go under as well.

The phoenix is rising from the ashes? I wonder, will they resurrect that game, «inSANE», with Guillermo Del Toro?

Yui_Suzumiya2353d ago

That would be so damn awesome! But ultimately that would be up to Guillermo.

Prince_TFK2354d ago (Edited 2354d ago )

What a turn around for the new THQ. I wish them nothing but success.

Now get the WWE license back from 2K and all thing will be right again in the world.

terrorofdeath2353d ago (Edited 2353d ago )

Yukes need to stop producing WWE games.

TheOttomatic912354d ago

Let's hope we get Saints Row 5 now.

PhoenixUp2354d ago

How would that canonically happen considering how Gat out of Hell canonically ended with the universe getting reshaped into Agents I’d Mayhem

Even if you ignored that storyline, you can’t top being leader of space

Prince_TFK2354d ago (Edited 2354d ago )

Maybe they can start fresh with a new story and maybe for once, set the game outside of the US.

PhoenixUp2354d ago

At that point might as well not even make it Saints Row

UnHoly_One2354d ago

They could take one of Gat out of Hell's other endings.

Or just say "F it" and do whatever they want.

It's not like it has to make sense in the grand scheme of things.

PhoenixUp2354d ago

@ Unholy

At the end of Saints Row 4 you are in control of space & earth is destroyed. Not much more you can go from there.

@ Chris

Agents of Mayhem was already a canonical reboot.

KillBill2353d ago

@PhoenixUp - time scenarios can always present an opportunity for new avenues to present. Controlling, Space, Earth and TIME. would obviously lead to a new aspect to the story.

They either need to reboot Saint Row or ignore Saint Row 3 Good ending and Saint Row 4 all together.

that merch tho.

ridiculous the numbers they pull in, which makes it even worse when i think about the low budget broken games they make. or have made recently

-Foxtrot1h ago

We’re never getting an amazing mainline Pokémon game again are we

phoenixwing1h ago

Of course not. That's why I have tem tem because even if it's not the greatest I at least know the indie dev was trying

ZeekQuattro33m ago

Great plug for Tem Tem right there. It's not the greatest but at least they tried.... 🤣
