Retro Review: NHL ’94

Jacob St-Amour from Link-Cable Writes: "Just a few days ago, hockey fans were saddened to see the ageless wonder Jaromir Jagr depart from the NHL. Injuries and a lack of play caused the Czech legend and the Calgary Flames to terminate his contract and soon after to return home to play for the Kladno Knights overseas. As we bid farewell to this hockey great and future Hall of Famer, we also look back at the game which featured a list of all-stars from an era that is now history with NHL ‘94."

Blades of Steel was so funny to play with friends, I loved that game. Damn good hockey game, but having a punch up with someone was the real reason to play it.

I think it's because for some it's dangerous to have a successful, more liberal society sitting right next door. It goes against their narrative that such a country could exist so they need to point out and exaggerate any flaws that they can find.

The fact is every country is screwed up in their own way. Rather than picking on the flaws, we should be taking note of the successes and what we might learn from them to improve our own situations.

I tried NHL 95 and 97 SNES versions recently and they were so, so hard to control because I've spent the last 15 years doing the new thing almost every year. I was looking just plain stupid out there.

Best classic hockey games:

NES: Blades of Steel, Ice Hockey

Genesis: NHLPA 93', Mutant League Hockey

SNES: NHL 94'
