IGN : This remaster is a stunning return to the classic that wowed us in 2005.
:D The game truly looks amazing on current Gen. Sony really should look into purchasing bluepoint games because they are truly talented devs.
At least from technical perspective they have already proved how good they are. Now, buy them, throw some artists there and let the magic happens.
Hail to the KING SOTC is the Best remake of all time! DAY 1
I'm buying this awesome game for my nephews. I look forward to them blubbing like babies 😂
Bluepoint have a sterling reputation (that SotC will only enhance further), and they have said before that they have a queue of projects lined up. Near-constant demand to remake and remaster games for various publishers. They can basically afford to pick and choose projects that they want to work on. The fact that they are working on passion projects probably contributes to the quality of their work, so in that sense it would be a shame if they were bought out by Sony or anyone else. Just hope whatever game you are nostalgic for gets the nod from them :)
FATAL1TY Not that difficult when its the remake of one of the best games ever made.
Excellent. SotC is with out a doubt the best remake ever. Well done Bluepoint. SQUARE ENIX, please for the love of God give the FF7 remake to Bluepoint ASAP.
These guys are masters of the remaster.
Yeah they really should Would be nice to have a developer who can remake old games. Do remakes of old games, gain interest again then do a sequel.
I think Bluepoint know how to nail the remastered. Their first time with remake just nailed it.
You can tell that Sony and BluePoint put tremendous care into this remake. Finally ppl will understand that it is a ground up technical remake a la R&C. So excited for February 6th.
Would really like them to remake games like SOCOM 2 and possibly Syphon Filter.
Bluepoint does a lot for Sony, but I think they should remain independent. They can only work on so many remakes/ remasters. The day they buy them is the day they just say screw BC entirely and we'll be paying for remakes/ remasters. Great developers, but I think it's in everyone's best interest for them to stay independent.
I suppose that's what you think about MS wanting to buy EA.
ILostMyMind, I don't think Microsoft should buy EA. What's your point?
Remember Ready At Dawn? You're basically expecting Sony to do the same thing with them... isn't there a saying like, if you don't learn from your past then you're doomed to repeat history? I think they should pull a polyphony digital and have a 3rd party / 1st party partnership but to acquire them will probably change their fate for the worst. Expectations will be too high.
Polyphony is the only studio Sony created. The rest were bought.
@Death But Sony make their studio to be the best.
These guys made the 360 version of Titanfall look like the Xbox One version. Really would like to see what they can do with an original IP.
The fight with Phalanx should be as epic as it was back in the day.
OMG I loved that boss fight Its the most breath taking moment in video games Jumping off agro was epic AF
Can't wait to play this amazing game again for the first time! Bravo SONY and Bluepoint!
Good job Bluepoint. Please make Demon's Souls next.
Metal Gear Solid
MGS would be epic.
Looking at Bloodborne and Dark Souls III, how much of an improvement would a remake of Demon's Souls even be?
Not much, if not any. But getting yet another Souls fix is not a bad thing for the fans
This year's coming out swinging straight out of the gate! Can't wait to check this out.
in b4 someone says SOTC is overrated.
It's a masterpiece. One of my favorite games of all time. It's so great to see what they've achieved on the PS4 and know that the game will reach many more people that have never played it before.
SOTC was THE GAME for me back then on PS2, until Phantom Dust took over. Congrat to sony and Bluepoint for a fantastic remake of a masterpiece. Hopefully younger gamers give it a shot, it is one of the kind game out there; nothing else like it.
That person does not deserve to live.
Didn’t expect the metacritic score. I guess this older game truly is worth playing for the first time.
Another colossal winner for PlayStation. No pun intended.
I'm calling bullshit. You totally intended the pun.
Where I come from "pun" means fart.
Lol. The conversation still works either way :)
2018. is gonna be legendary for the PS4 players.
At $40 I really hope this sells well. It's one of the best games ever made and this remade seems to be made with love and dedication. Day one for me.
I'm happy to see it receive such incredible scores (93 Metacritic). SotC is a game that truly deserved the BuePoint remake treatment and it's amazing to see it shine. February 6th SotC and April 20th God of War, not a bad start for 2018 by Sony. It's nice to see a company that puts games first.
The original is 91 on Metacritic for PS2. Its at 92 on PS3 and sitting at 93 on PS4. Its strange to see all the people that are against free backwards compatibility with enhancements so excited to play an old game for the third time around.
This isn't BC with enhancements. This is a full blown remake that runs on a new engine with new assets. No one is against BC but everyone will admit that good quality remakes are better.
It’s a remake.
One thing i don’t understand. When a brand new zelda game gets released and gets amazing scores, it’s because of Nostalgia and it shouldn’t have gotten that high of scores. But Now a 3rd time released game from the PS2 era gets released again and gets great review scores, and it’s not based on Nostalgia???? Double standards in the flesh
I complain that Zelda: Breath of the wild was overrated but never said people were blind because of nostalgia. I found that an open world feel empty, the weapons are useless especially the master sword and shield and the caves was fun the first few times but it got boring. The boss fight were too easy especially the final fight. And expected an amazing story like previous game. I consider The legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess as the best Zelda game and if this game get a Remake then I would give it a high score, not only for nostalgia but because it was the most funnest, amazing story.
That hair though.
Now give us Legend of Dragoon remake sony!
i‘d like for them to put their skills into something new. as fancy and shiny as it looks i have got zero intention of rebuying and replaying this or any other remastered game. thanks for nothing.
It's remade, not remastered. Also, interesting notion of nothing.
@chris and yet your here. What next you're going to tell us you live in a high-rise apartment and have no intention of buying a lawn mower?
This is Bluepoint first remake. And they nailed it.
No one asked you, neither are you forced to buy it.
Go to all XB news and repeat this story there.
My lawd, all these high scores!! Like I said before, I'd like to see them collab with SEGA and tackle the Pander Dragoon series. Great job Blue Point.
Oh Saga could make for an awesome remake. I think the original sold about 14 copies and the IP carries no weight at all so there is no chance, but no harm dreaming eh?
Only 14 copies?!!
No not literally, I was exaggerating. They actually sold 16.
Or Shadow of Rome 🤤 Panzer Dragon would be cool on PSVR.
Shadow of Rome was bloody as sin. Lol
BOOM Wow that's really great score from IGN. Bluepoint did a great job with the game.
They earned their recognition.
An epic score for an epic game
And it's only $40 f*kin dollars!! A full remake, bluepoint has truly set the bar. Only played a bit of Ico HD thanks to PS+ but stopped since I got stuck but it was a really awesome experience. Also, I'm really glad I haven't touched Shodow of the Colossus.
Ico is so good. You should play all the way though it. I wish they would remake Ico.
It's pretty amazing that Sony can go back to its older PS2 library pull out a great exclusive title, remake it and it's gold. Are you paying attention Nintendo?? And MS you're not even invited in this conversation.
Preordered last year:) roll on next week.
Funny how a remake of a game from 2 generations ago will EASILY be one of the best games of this generation. I've said once or twice and I'll say it again: the golden age of console gaming died the moment the last PS2 was produced.
