EA outlines Star Wars Battlefront 2 plans - Revamped progression system coming

EA has issued an update which partially details some of the updates coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2 in the next couple of months.

I really think devs need to start looking closely at there ongoing systems in game before they launch. Now both stsrwars and destiny are revamping a bunch of their systems and laying out "planned updates" posts to try and soothe fans because they facked the games various systems at launch.

Gamers aren't dumbasses and we game for FUN, if some shit aint cool then we'll just drop it or even better never pick it up in the first place. Gaming is an expensive hobby and we are in at a gaming high right now with so many games this year, last year and next year fighting for out attention and 60 beans to drop along with.

Add in dlc, microtransactions and lootboxes on the rise this hobby is only getting more expensive and nows not the time to launch mediocre.

Sad how much they still treat this franchise as a business through and through. In 2 months we will do this, then in 3 months after that we will release this, then in the fall we will release new dlc for $20, then next year we will do this....

I think its great if they improve the game for the many gamers playing it. I do hope they get rid of loot crates. . We ll see. My most played classes, hero etc are upgraded I mainly would like more weapon choice and more special ability. It's obviously too late for people hating the game but whatever. *shrugs*

Yea I’ve played it since launch and am only now starting to slow down. During that time I never had a problem finding a game so all the doom and gloom posters can suck a fat one :)

This isn't Destiny 2. This is Battlefront 2. They already are doing well. They took 2nd in NPD sales after COD WWII. The base is already there.

Great game. Never had problems finding a match. I was honestly skeptical of buying it from all the controversy surrounding the game. I needed a good fix of Star Wars gaming after seeing the last Jedi but I wasn't really big on the first one but liked it . Well I'm super happy I bought it because I've had the most fun online in a game in a long time. The heroes vs villians mode is amazing. Really let's you feel like your reliving those epic lightsaber battles from the movies. So much to love about this game as a Star Wars fan. It's graphically a beaut and the sound track, just makes it feel like Star Wars come to life.

I've had a lot of fun with it as well. I still have assassins creed to finish and start wolfenstein. I managed to finish super mario oddessy, but I have had alot of fun with battlefront 2 and can't seem to get back to the other ones.

Players are tired of publisher imposed monetization BS. I won't be buying ANY EA games moving forward. Anthem looked decent, but appears to have fallen into development hell (now pushed to 2019). I would bet that EA are heavy hand imposing lootboxes and will ruin what could have been a great franchise (before it is even established). Let me predict that at that point Bioware will be done. EA destroyed Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and soon to be Anthem. Bioware will be repurposed and shuttered. Adding to the long list of collateral damage to quality talented studios. Respawn will follow not long thereafter with the release of Titanfall Lootbox 3. RIP.

Well, I'm having a blast currently. Servers are non-stop full and it plays very well. Oh, and it looks mind blowing in HDR, especially Hoth. Bought it just because price dropped crazy fast and I've heard good things about single player campaign. Wasn't disappointed. A bargain currently IMO.

You don't know anything about the people posting. You're just making assumptions because clearly you can't imagine that people might have a different opinion than you.

I rented this game from Red Box when it launched just to see what all the controversy was about. And you know what? You are right about one thing. The game is a lot of fun.

But the system EA tried to implement is unforgivable and nothing more than pure greed along with thinking their customers are idiots that will continue spending tons of money on an already full priced game.

I don't care that they are revamping it now, or that they took all the microtransactions out at launch. They needed to be shown that they can't implement these horrible practices. BF2 was literally the worst I've ever seen in my 30 years of gaming. And I'm not even one to complain about DLC and microtransactions. MT's are fine in my eyes as long as they are only for cosmetic stuff.

But EA tried to push a system us, YOU INCLUDED, that forced everyone to either play for 1,000's of hours (no exageration, 1,000's) to unlock everything or continur spending real money on loot crates that don't guarantee you getting anything new.

Enough is enough. I don't care that I enjoyed the actual gameplay. There comes a point when we have to put our feet down, because if we don't then these companies will just continue to implement even more systems designed to take your money.

So now I have a line I won't cross. If loot crates or MT's have anything other than cosmetic items, I won't buy the game. And if content is locked behind impossibly large walls to force people into paying more money. I also won't buy it.

If gamers don't start hitting these guys in their wallets it will never get better. In fact it will only get worse.

@chao-except I don't believe ultimately he is all that far off there's lots of people on here that it's pretty clear they were never even going to purchase this game in the first place so they pretty much falls on deaf ears.

A lot of it I don't believe is just criticism, a lot of it is people literally seeking out the article on the game to Simply spread their hate of something they were never going to buy.

@corn-for the most part it sounds like you're more angry about something that was never even implemented into the game at launch....

That just seems a bit exaggerated over-the-top and uncalled for and completely unnecessary months after launch. No one is even saying to like micro transactions, simply stop coming on an article talking about a publisher simply to bash and express your hate of something that's already been reversed months ago.

Why would you want to unlock everything? Some cards are about useless and you'd want to spend hours getting them upgraded to epic?
That 1000s of hrs is exaggerated and the game has already changed a lot in many ways regarding earning credit and craft from the state it was before release.

1. It doesn't matter that it wasn't implemented at launch. It was their original plan and design. You can't honestly think that EA wouldn't have implemented that system if people didn't do exactly what I'm talking about and put their feet down.

2. I didn't say anything about people liking microtransactions. The person who posted what I replied to has made multiple comments about people that don't like BF2 being "haters" and not even being Star Wars fans. As if he is dismissing the things the actual reasons so many people dislike the game. My comment was explaining why I didn't buy it, even though I thought the game was fun.

So please don't draw your own conclusions from things I never said.

3. If I want to go into an article and talk about why I dislike something, whether it be a game, a particular developer, or anything else, then I will. The beauty about the internet and comment threads is that people like you don't get to tell me what to do. I'm aware you couldn't spend real money since launch. But the point is that if gamers didn't put their feet down, then you better believe that system that was in place pre-launch is what you would have gotten.

They had full intentions of having microtransactions in the game for loot crates. There's even a place in the finished build that launched for you to do it. They just deactivated it.

Again, that happened because people put their feet down and said they weren't going to take this crap anymore.

As for not wanting to unlock everything? No, you don't need to unlock everything if you don't want to. But there is nothing exaggerated about my comment. It would take 1,000's of hours to unlock everything if you wanted. But whats even worse is that it took over a hundred hours just to unlock certain heroes through normal gameplay. Again, they changed soon after launch, however, to my point, that only happened because people said "no more".

So I hope you enjoy your game that only made it to its current "acceptable" state because people like me put our feet down.

Since the games release my only complaint has actually been the progression system just because I like the gameplay of a game does not mean I like 100% of everything regarding the game absolutely with zero issues.
