Monster Hunter World's Tsujimoto on going back to console, pleasing fans, not taking the RE7 route

GR: "After a long time away we finally have an all new Monster Hunter game in the shape of Monster Hunter World. It’s the first time the series has been on a main console for a while, and I spoke to producer Ryozo Tsujimoto about that, what it’s like to update such a traditional series, and how to keep a zealous fan base happy."

"Well, we want players to be surprised and delighted with Monster Hunter World but we don’t want to substantially revise core gameplay just to have something new to show. It’s a co-op action game and that’s what makes it what it is... We want to make sure the game is always Monster Hunter at its heart."

Exactly how it should be

Very excited for this game. Never played a Monster Hunter but always heard how great they were.

blackblades2282d ago

Yeah, I haven't played one myself but I do play GE series and other game similar so I'm pretty sure I'll like this. We did get one free for psp from ps+ I believe.

zerocarnage2282d ago

Yes monster Hunter as been a bit of a myth to those who never played it on ps2 or owned a Nintendo device. We're talking like over a decade of it being missing from consoles that really should of seen entry's all All along.

The wait is nearly over, just one more day and all those tales will now become your adventure and you along with many new hunters will finally be able to carve a path of monster slaying of you own.

Welcome all old and new hunters.

Heavenly King2282d ago

I Completely agree. RE7 should have followed this way of thinking.

-Foxtrot2282d ago

The issue with RE7 is with how well the RE Remake and RE0 sold on the PS4 and Xbox One 12 Years after release it showed that a market for those kind of games is still there so the complete change was a stupid decision that should have been a spin off or new IP

gantarat2282d ago

It's still survivor-horror

sampsonon2281d ago (Edited 2281d ago )

ummm? but RE7 was a success and was in VR as well. so someone was happy.

TheColbertinator2282d ago

Been a hunter since the PS2 days. Delighted to take part in Monster Hunter for the first time on the Xbox One X.

PFFT2282d ago

zerocarnage2282d ago

I've joined the monster Hunter club on Xbox and signed to the mentor program to help new hunters out

As someone who has never played any of the other MH games.. How long do you think it will take me before I know what im doing? I was only able to touch the older beta for a short amount of time, and the interface/menus alone was overwhelming.. Also as someone who most likely wont have anyone to play with, is it still worth the buy in terms of a singleplayer experience? Ill probably try coop once im grounded in the games mechanics... any info helps.

Sirk7x2282d ago

The older games introduce you to the mechanics slowly, but they are very dense, and most certainly require a wiki to make fast progress. World seems to have the goal of being slightly more accessible with the information it provides players. Monster Hunter is definitely a hardcore series.

savethemedic2282d ago

I don't mind taking my time.. I remember I had the same reservations about The Witcher 3, but once I was in, the game ended up being one of my all time favorite games I've ever played.. Just hoping to get some more info and suggestions before it drops so I know what im getting into.

zerocarnage2282d ago

It can be pretty in your face at first, some grasp it some struggle with the game.

It's important to help those hunters that struggle with the game because those are the ones that often end up rage quitting and getting very annoyed with the toughness of the game.

Once bit of advice I can say to you is dont think of it as a hack and slash game, think of it as more of a dark souls experience and choose your attacks wisely, anyone hack and slashing will die a fast terrible death.

Sirk7x2281d ago (Edited 2281d ago )

For followup, I imagine it's going to be easier to pair up with people online due to the availability of voice chat. You can also go through the entire single player experience alone, but for endgame hunts, and fun factor, partnering with others is definitely the best way to play. If you like games like Dark Souls (don't worry, it's not as dark; It's just all I can really compare it to), Monster Hunter should be for you.

The title seems like a weird hit on RE7 when the answer had nothing against RE7. Does the author have a grudge against RE7 going back to its horror roots and pleasing fans? Monster Hunter World is going to be interesting. The beta was very fun but wonder how long the stay value will be since it's not mobile anymore, that's been a huge draw for people especially in Japan. Can't wait to play, Monster Hunter on any system is more than welcome.

KwietStorm_BLM2282d ago

He was literally asked if the "reboot" and different approach of Resident Evil 7 had any influence on Monster Hunter World. The reply was no, they didn't want to change things up and put very different mechanics for the sake of it being new. Where's the confusion?

TheOttomatic912282d ago

Not sure why you have a dog against RE7 on the title
