Doesn't this promote illegal activities??

Lulz_Boat2715d ago

not if you have original game on wii

Aenea2715d ago

I said "promote" didn't I? As in, people don't really have to own the game at all to download and play it...

Razzer2715d ago

And if you were playing the game from that disc then that would be different. But this thing is downloading the game from some other source. It is piracy, pure and simple.

InTheZoneAC2715d ago

no one has the game on the wii and this doesn't answer the question, nub

thekhurg2714d ago

Per Nintendo - it's still unlawful. Their TOS prohibits these.

Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game?

There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.

frostypants2714d ago (Edited 2714d ago )

@Lulz_Boat, you might have bought it for the Wii but I'd wager the EULA specifically indicates that you have only purchased the right to play that copy. Does owning the WiiU edition make it legal to download the Switch edition for free (be it from Nintendo or a warez source)? Nope. So why would it be OK to download it for PC?

Prince_TFK2715d ago

Well some people like these kind of things here. They claim to hate BOTW but then proceed to pirate it the moment it is available on Cemu.

Razzer2715d ago

Some people? Who are you talking about?

thekhurg2714d ago

I would much rather play this game on my PC, than on my Switch. Just for the higher framerates/draw distance.

But Nintendo doesn't allow it, and I don't want to add to a problem that is already hurting some publishers/developers.

OoglyBoogly2714d ago

"and I don't want to add to a problem that is already hurting some publishers/developers."

Who? There's yet to be a single proven source showing that piracy hurts anything.

Cyro2715d ago

Yeah I'm not sure why they're telling you how to download it. Showcasing that's it's possible is one thing but now being able to tell people how is allowed?

Cobra9512715d ago

Page 3 definitely promotes an illegal download of the game, updates and DLC.

MrVux0002714d ago

Here come the piracy defenders.

MWH2714d ago (Edited 2714d ago )

To some illegal activities and to some, holiday festivities. 🤣🍻😁

Illegal? Isn't that a sick bird?

Whether or not you own the original game. At the end of the day. You are not going to buy a gaming system for 1 game.

Nintendo should have been wise and released this for PC as well, it's had tons of interest from the PC community.
And most of them are not going to buy a wii u etc for it.

Aenea2715d ago

Yeah, if they would be even wiser they would also release all their games on PC, Xbox and PlayStation! /s

Exclusives, it's a thing, want to play it, buy the system...

Heart-hat-ack2715d ago

Exclusives are a thing, you're correct. And because of it, Nintendo will loose potential sales. Exclusives, are only a way to make the uninformed rally to a particular mantra. They do not benefit gamers as a whole. Just my opinion, other opinions do exist.

Aenea2714d ago

@heart

Yeah, just like MS is losing potential sales of keeping Cuphead away from the PS4 and Switch or Sony losing potential sales of not releasing Horizon Zero Dawn for PC and Xbox One...

People like you tend to forget that many a time such games wouldn't exist at all without the exclusivity!

Prince_TFK2715d ago (Edited 2715d ago )

Why would they release it on PC? They made this game to sell their console.

There is a thing called exclusive you know. Stop port begging.

Protagonist2714d ago (Edited 2714d ago )

"stop port begging" ?? LOL ... yeah start telling that to yourself hypocrite and other nintendo fanboys begging for ports of every game for the switch.

TheFirstClassic2715d ago

This thing is the biggest reason that the switch had such a strong start, it would be a terrible decision to go multiplatform on such a big game with a new platform coming out.

kayoss2714d ago

Yeah, Nike should make clothes with removable logos so that you can put a different brand logo on instead.

The purpose of exclusivity is for players to buy their console. Kind of defeat the meaning of exclusivity if they release it on PC dont you think?

So articles advocating piracy are allowed now?

UKRsoldja2714d ago

Well to be fair, it's the only way to play Zelda with good graphics..

Perjoss2711d ago

Your comment history is ****ing hilarious, it’s like the Nintendo Switch slept with your gf or kicked your dog or something. Chill my man.

il-JumperMT2715d ago

How can I report an article for promoting piracy?

UKRsoldja2714d ago

How can I report n4g users for being salty?

I just reported you for having no balls how's that feel derptard

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the anti-Breath of the Wild

Polygon: "To get back to the way Ocarina made us feel, it was necessary to reject almost everything about it."

LG_Fox_Brazil529d ago

Ocarina of Time changed my life forever, such a masterpiece

Zeldafan64529d ago

Hard to believe it's 25 years old already.

Cacabunga529d ago

The feeling this game gave me the first time i had my hands on it is indescribable.. i still get the chill from that day..
botw is like a spin off of the series.. it’s fun but with many flaws and the most important which is Zelda formula isn’t there..

FinalFantasyFanatic528d ago

I can't even remember how many times I played through OoT, I finished that game, and collected everything so many times.

Vits529d ago

I generally agree with the author here. However, if I had to point out a single game as the 'anti-Breath of the Wild,' that would be Majora's Mask. Pretty much everything in that game is interconnected, relies on something that the player must have done previously, is timed, and can be considered a puzzle in itself.

gold_drake528d ago

but still considered the best of the seties.

i would have liked botw to be more like ocarina.

franwex528d ago (Edited 528d ago )

25 years from today whatever Zelda is out people would too be looking fondly at Breath of the Wild.

Ah the more simple times of the 2020s.

babadivad528d ago (Edited 528d ago )

It isn't...
