Does Xenoblade Chronicles 2 really feel like a proper Xeno- franchise descendent?

I kinda agree. Also, Xenoblade Chronicles2 is easily the weakest Chronicles game so far. The first, on Wii, is amazing, X on Wii U arguably better but this one over tutorialises, bores and frustrates equally. I was getting tutorials over fifteen hours into the game for a combat system that just never grabbed me. Add in the broken waypoint system and level billion monsters straying into early game areas to one hit you from across the map we aren't even started with how this game misses it's targets.

Soo, I'm a fan of the Chronicles games and don't feel it really holds up as tying into a wider Xeno game universe or, really, to the other Chronicles titles. No dig at anyone enjoying the title, just not feeling it either as a game or as part of a wider series let alone in relation to Xenogears or Saga. I guess I am pretty disappointed with it, tbh.

It has similar themes, but they aren't beaten into your head with as much fervor as it was in Gears or especially Saga. Can't say about XC2 though, since I have yet to play it.

The Zohar is basically in it. Yes it is more proper than the other Xenoblade games. Much more so. Play it in Japanese and if you understand any Japanese you'll get it.

On it's own it's a pretty good jrpg, but as a Xeno title I feel that it's the weakest one especially compared to Xenogears and the Xenosaga titles.
