"Breath of the Wild’s Timeline Placement is Down to the Imagination of the Fans"

Which means there is no lore or coherency to accompany the garbage vanilla story. The trailer is talking about a hundred years ago and give this impression that it's a true sequel to something like Ocarina but at the end of the day the story says the war's been going on for 10,000 years which would be 10 Zelda titles featuring 10 Links. Complete unexplained nonsense and Nintendo really forgot everything about what makes a Zelda title when making this game.

NewMonday297d ago

I think the whole connected timeline was down to the imagination of the fans and Nintendo just rolled with it.

..They forgot what makes a Zelda title?..

Are you serious?.. You sure you don't wanna edit that?

Adventure, save the princess, find/buy tools/weapons, ride a horse, solve puzzles, clear main dungeons, fairies, magic, towns folk's side quests, towns to discover, bosses to defeat, subplots based on other reoccuring side characters... And that's about i-

Boating, fishing, day/night cycles, skeletons, a kingdom, deku tree, armor sets, ganon, freedom, arrow shooting contests, horse racing, nostalgic head nods to older zelda games, environmental hazards, love story theme, link's personality, koroks, rito, shiekah, gorons, zora's all make a return.

Hell, the main character starts the Zelda game by OPENING his eyes, man.

I could go on for paragraphs man... Get ur shit together.

Edit: Screw it. Dodging/blocking combat, The, "old man's", guidance, Epona, Effect clothing, faithful to canon hyrule terrain, nods to old characters in forms of locations like, "tingle island, lake saria, ", zelda's bow, temple of time, bow combat, bombs, LAMP OILLLLLL~

And btw, I thought the story was amazing, and was a great personal breather from the modern, "let's have sex", softcore porn RPG.

Terrible vanilla story
No dungeons
Underwhelming shrines
No lore or Triforce
Boss fights are the same 4x minus elemental attack differences.
Only like 20 total enemies in the game
Repetitive shrines and seeds (only needed just to have enough hearts or weapons to defeat the only Quest that matters)
All side quests are fetch quest with useless Rewards.
Swinging a leaf on a rant is boating?
Temple of Time is a useless ruin like ever other location.
Towns are void of life and enjoyment.
Should I continue???

Look I get you love this game, but it's not a great game. It's a repetitive game with more flaws than any other Zelda.

Best parts are the physics and climbing which leads to very few interesting places. The snowball shrines and saving the dragon shrines are really the only cool ones, most shrine puzzles are neat but 99% contain useless Rewards.
Cooking is awesome but the game needs a cook book.
Breakable weapons was implemented poorly.
Elements are neat but rain is constantly annoying and lightning storms limit you to wooden weapons which are weak.

I'll blame it on being a Wii U port. It's a good title but a very weak Zelda game.

EDIT: The SOTC style of taming the Devine Beasts are really cool. The Zora one was the only challenging one.

I agree with you about breakable weapons and the lousy rain, Necrum.

Er, that's it, I'm afraid.

Ocarnia of Time, Twilight Priness, Majoras Mask, and Wind Waker were better than BOTW imo... While BOTW added better graphics, crafting, climbing, and voice acting... everything else felt lacking and esp no dungeons, forgetable story, no real reason to explore the world, boring bosses, breaking weapons, and lack of enemy variety. I however, did like botw much better than Skyward Sword. Hell botw can be completely beatin by just getting enough items (aarows to defeat ganon) its kind of a joke. You can beat the game with 3 hearts and items if this isnt your 1st zelda exp.

Necrum: absolutely agree

You do realize that in Breath of the Wild all the Divine Beast are named after
Durania - Goron Sage in OoT
Ruto - Zora Sage in OoT
Nabooru - Gerudo Sage in OoT
Medli - From Wind Waker - takes place in the Adult Timeline - 1000 years later after OoT

Epona being the Horse of Legend
Lon Lon Ranch being in Ruins.

Skyloft can be found.

The entire game takes place during a time where all the timeline lead to the same end point.
Which the latest game in the series time wise is Zelda II The Adventure of Link.

As a huge Zelda fan, I will never understand this "timeline".

". . . we’re not really at the stage where we want to talk about where Breath of the Wild is in the timeline. I think, as with the pixelated food, it’s something that at this point we want to leave up to people’s imaginations."

Heheh! He's toying with the interviewer. Between the lines, I see "we make Zelda games for gaming fun and our profit; we never intended to create a rigid historical timeline for Link, Zelda or Hyrule; it's just a game".

SenorFartCushion297d ago

Breath of the Wild is a remake of the 1st game.

DJK1NG_Gaming297d ago

Not entirely. It more fitting to be Zelda III basically after Zelda II Adventure of Link.

Shiken297d ago

You are truly clueless to the lore then.

SenorFartCushion297d ago

That's what it is to me. They mention the other games in passing and there are the obvious Zelda Lore parallelisms but it's a Zelda game with two different stories woven into a single time-stream and that hasn't been done before; and not even Majora's Mask did that.

You start the game resurrected. You disect the past and learn from it and defeat the villain and after doing all of the shrines, you get the outfit of the first game.

It's almost like the open world is a catalyst for all the timelines to offer little bits and pieces, so it has to be the first in a new Zelda series/remake.
